We are recruiting for a Nuclear Stress Engineer / Analyst for our facility in Cambridge, Ontario. Engineering Analysis & Qualification is a dynamic group within BWXT Canada that is responsible for ensuring nuclear components and equipment designed, fabricated, and installed by BWXT meet all Code and customer requirements for structural integrity and thermal-hydraulic performance. As an Engineering Analyst, you will use finite element analysis (ANSYS & ABAQUS) and other techniques to ensure ASME Code and customer requirements are met. Structural evaluation includes pressure and mechanical load analysis, transient thermal-stress analysis, and seismic analysis. You will be working within a collaborative and diverse group of highly skilled engineers who will share their knowledge and will assist with your growth in engineering. JOB SUMMARY: Your main responsibility will be to perform s tructural qualification on key nuclear components like steam generators, heat exchangers, and piping assemblies. Additionally, you will perform thermal-hydraulics analysis of heat exchanger equipment such as steam generators and shell-and-tube heat exchangers. RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform specialized engineering assignments usually representing a significant portion of a larger project. Select engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations. Serve as a mentor to junior engineers, offering guidance and sharing expertise. Analysis and design quali fication of nuclear components using finite element analysis or classical closed-form solutions which would include: Structural analysis Transient thermal analysis Heat-transfer analysis CFD analysis Response spectrum and time-history seismic analysis Flow-induced vibration analysis Provide input and support to Project Engineering. This includes: Provide input to set the design Preparation of calculations & reports to qualify the final design Evaluating non-conformances as required Lend experience and knowledge to more junior analysts. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or associated fields with strong foundation in solid mechanics and/or fluid mechanics. Proficiency in general purpose FE codes such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, CFX, FLUENT and numerical packages such as MathCAD or Matlab. Knowledge of nuclear plant functions and ASME codes would be an asset. Knowledge of CSA S16 or equivalent structural codes would be an asset. Experience with programming languages (e.g., FORTRAN, C, C++, Python, VBA) would be an asset. Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, organizational skills, and the knack for fostering productive working relationships . Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Typically, a minimum of years relevant experiance. P.Eng or interest in obtaining same would be an asset. WHY JOIN BWXT? However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
