Is this role right for you? As a member of the Growth Team at 1832 Asset Management L.P., you as the Portfolio Analyst will: Partner with the Growth Portfolio Manager for the gathering, consolidating, and interpreting of information and data required for buy, hold, and sell investment decisions Research selected industries, companies, and securities Interview management of companies being analyzed Prepare and make oral presentations Prepare and submit written reports In this role, you will: Analyze companies’ financial information to determine current and future financial performance Examine company reports (quarterly, semi-annual, annual), event driven situations and other regulatory filings Organize and format information collected Draft reports and make investment recommendations using information from industry, company, and economic data collected from a variety of sources including the Web, corporate reports, general and industry publications as well as management interviews Continually update and improve valuation spreadsheets in a timely manner Monitor key reporting dates including corporate earnings and announcements Document and report on relevant company and market news to the Portfolio Manager in a continuous and timely manner Listen to company and industry conference calls as and when required Generate a clear, compelling, and actionable thesis for each investment idea Write succinct research reports and investment recommendations that can be used by the Growth Team, in carrying out stock selection Make oral presentations on companies and industry trends as required Develop expertise in specific securities Actively participate in analyst focused activities across 1832 Asset Management Support the Portfolio Manager with back-up administration duties, as needed and when requested Do you have the skills and requirements that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if have: Minimum two year’s related analytical investment experience Undergraduate degree or MBA CFA® Charterholder or active enrollment in the CFA® program preferred Knowledge of accounting an asset Experience and working knowledge with investment systems (such as Bloomberg) Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft, specifically Excel and other financial software programmes Skills Strong quantitative-mathematical abilities Excellent research, analytical and interpretive skills, with a proven track record Ability to analyze and understand companies, interpret research, and make investment recommendations First-rate oral and written communication skills Thoughtful and strategic decision-making capabilities High attention to detail Strong organizational skills and a positive results-oriented approach Ability to speak French or Spanish would be an asset Responsibilities Proven ability to multi-task Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Pro-active and creative self-starter, with an ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to collaborate with Growth Team members Capability to cultivate sound relationships with other company stakeholders Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, changing environment Location Toronto, Ontario, Canada In addition to your resume, please submit your answer to the following question as part of your cover letter: What is your best investment idea and provide reasons why?
