Requisition ID: 163808 Opportunity Type: Short-term appointment Estimated Annual Salary: 300,000 - 350,000 Type of Remuneration: APP- Alternative Payment Plan Site Visit & Reallocation Allowance Programs: Site Visit Program For information and to determine eligibility for Department of Health and Wellness Incentives, please contact XXXX@novascotia.ca About the Opportunity St Martha's Regional Hospital (SMRH), is seeking a full-time short term contract pediatrician to provide coverage during the period of December 1st, 2023 to May 31, 2024. St Martha's is the regional acute care facility serving residents of Antigonish, Guysborough, and Strait-Richmond Counties. SMRH offers a wide range of primary and secondary services through inpatient, outpatient, and community-based services and programs. The emergency department is staffed by family medicine physicians with emergency medicine certification. The women and children’s unit has 3 pediatric inpatient beds and receives delivery of 350 newborns per year. Maternity services are provided by midwives, family physicians and obstetricians to whom pediatrics provides a consultative service. Pediatrics is supported by our on site laboratory, diagnostic imaging and colleagues in many specialties with access to our tertiary care colleagues in all pediatric subspecialties at the IWK in Halifax. Responsibilities Duties include providing consultative pediatric care for a wide variety of issues referred from primary care and the emergency departments in our catchment area (Eastern zone) and providing call for pediatrics and obstetric/newborn care. The physician will work with a group of 3 other pediatricians in a private office space adjacent to the hospital premises. They will have the support of the administrative staff in the office and will contribute to the very reasonable overhead cost. The individual will operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority as part of the in-hospital care provided. Expected Hours Expected Hours 37.5h/week. On call 1:4 Qualifications Eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS) Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) Eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) certification in Pediatrics or equivalent certification recognized by the CPSNS, current NRP and PALS certifications.
