PEDIATRIC ONCOLOGIST-HEMATOLOGIST WITH I NTE R EST I N PEDIATR I C NEURO-ONCOLOGY T h e Department of Pediatric O n co l ogy -H emato l ogy - BMT at Cance r Ca r e Manitoba and the Department of Pediatrics and C hild Health, Max Rady College of Med i c in e , Univ e r s ity of Ma nit o ba, invite applications for t he position of Full Time Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist. Thi s position includes an appointment with the University of Manitoba as a Geographical Full-Time academic physi c i a n , w ith rank of As s i s t a nt , Associate or full Profes s or based upon q u a lifi cat i ons. W hil e c lini c al sk ill s in a ll a r e a s of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology ar e requ ir ed (including Pediatric Oncology , Hematology , and BMT) , th e s u ccessfu l candidate s hould ha ve an area of spec ifi c training and int erest in Pediatric Neuro-Oncology and wou l d join another phy s ician i n our group with Pediatric Neuro-Oncology focu s . The position in c lu d es c lini ca l care fo r all infants , ch il dre n , a nd ado l escents w ith pediatric brain tumo ur s , including participat i o n in Bra i n Tumour R o und s , managing Neuro - O n co l ogy patients on targeted th erap i es, and con tinuin g the d e ve l opm e nt of th e P e di a tri c N euro - Onco l ogy program at CancerCare Manitoba and the W inni p e g C hil dren ' s Hospit a l. The position wou l d include opportu niti es fo r being a site principal in vest i gator fo r multi-institution tr ial s (both clinical / non-clinical trial s) and future development of in vest i gator-initiated trials. A lth oug h th e focus w ill be on Ped i a tr i c N e uro-Oncol o g y , a ll attend in g physicians in o u r gro up st ill participate in gen e ra l Pediatric Hemato l ogy and Onc o l o g y s erv i c e , l e aving opportunities to cont inu e to manage t h e spect rum of disorders wit hin the s p ecia l ty . Cove r age of B l ood a n d Marrow Transp l a nt pat i e n ts occurs on l y o n the weekends wi th appropr i ate subspeciali s t back up as r equ i r ed. Cl i nical se r v i ce and on - call responsibilities are proportionately s h ared amongst a ll attend in g physician members of the Department of Pediatric Oncology Hematology-BMT. The Department of Pediatric Onco l ogy and Hemat o logy, Ca n c e r Car e Man it oba consists of eig ht faculty members with act i ve c lini ca l and research programs in pediatric onco l og y, n e uro - onco lo gy, b l ood and marrow tr a n sp l ant, hematology, h emostas i s and thrombosis. I t is t h e so l e Ped i atric Oncolog y-Hematology Program seeing patients from across the Prov in ce of Manitoba , Northwestern Ontario and part s of Nunavut. O ur prog ram is an active contributor t o Ch ildr en' s Onco lo gy G r o up and ot h e r colla borativ e c li ni ca l g r oup trials, h as a blood and marrow tran s plant program with FACT accreditat i on , a Ro y al Co ll ege accred i ted subspecia l ty tra inin g program in Pediatric Hemato l og y-Onco l og y and is we ll suppo rt ed by a ll p e di a tric s ub specia lti es including experienced pediatric neuros urgeons , pediatric radiologi s t s, and p e diatric n europatho l og i s t s. Qualifications: Ca ndi dates must be e li gib l e for reg i s t ra ti on and in d e pe n dent medical practice w ith the Co ll ege of Phy s i c i an s and Surgeons of Manitoba as a subspecialist Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist. Certificat i o n (or e li g ibi lit y, or SEAP exam inati o n equiva l ency) from t h e Royal Co ll ege of Physicians and Surgeons of Cana d a in Pediatric Hematology Oncology i s required. Add iti ona l trainin g and e xper i ence in Pediatric Neuro-Oncology is re q ui red. T h e successf ul candidate w ill be expected to provide high quality in-patient and o u t-pat i e nt care to a var i et y of Pediatric H ematology-Onco l ogy patients as part of a m ul t idisc iplin ary team a t the Winnipeg C hildr en' s Hospita l , H ealt h Science Centre and Cance r Ca r e Ma nit oba. D i s tribution of cl in ica l care, research, teaching , and admin i strat i o n i s fl ex i b l e , but it is expected the c lini cal component wi ll be aro und 0.7 FTE. There will be opport uniti es for co ll abo ratio n w ith basic science and clinical researchers at the Children ' s Hospital Research Ins titut e of Manitoba a nd th e Paul A lbr ec ht se n Research I nst itut e at Cancer Care Manitoba, a joint institute of Cance r Care Man i to ba and t h e Un i versity of Manitoba. Income and rank wi ll be com m ensurate w ith ex p er i e n ce and qualificatio n s and be according t o th e CCMB remuneration agreeme n t.
