Competition # 378-23-7134070 Posting End Date: Open until filled City: Winnipeg Work Location: MacCharles/Grace Hospital/Misericordia Hospital/St. Boniface Hospital/Victoria General Hospital Department: Systemic Therapy Program & Outpatient Clinics Program Union: MNU Hiring Status: Term Anticipated Start Date and End Date: ASAP - One Year Term FTE: 1.0 Anticipated Shift: days/modified days Daily Hours Worked: 7.75 Annual Base Hours: 2015 Salary: $39.233, $40.604, $41.977, $43.407, $44.809, $46.260, $47.185, $48.129 Job Summary: The Oncology Nurse is responsible for providing holistic cancer care to patients over the spectrum of the oncology experience: assessment, intervention, treatment administration and follow-up in the ambulatory setting. The Oncology Nurse will participate in patient/family education, make pertinent nursing assessments, collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team and provide appropriate interventions. The incumbent must be available to work a variable schedule and work cross all sites. Nursing staff work with cytotoxic and hazardous medications on a regular basis. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and training are provided. The Float Pool provides nursing support to both Outpatient Clinic and Systemic Therapy Programs across all of CancerCare Manitoba sites, including MacCharles, St. Boniface Hospital, Victoria General Hospital, and Grace General Hospital. Qualifications: Requirements: Current registration with College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Strong understanding of patient-centred care Proficient with MS Word//Outlook and internet use Satisfactory employment record Must be able to legally work in Canada Preferred: Bachelor of Nursing Three (3) years’ experience within settings such as medical/surgical or ambulatory care Previous experience in chemotherapy administration and IV insertion Knowledge and experience with oncology Experience with electronic charting Ability to speak French Certified Oncology Nurse [CON(C)] Knowledge and experience with wound care Knowledge and experience with patients receiving radiation therapy Commitment to ongoing professional development Leadership and self-development Will be assessed During the Interview Process: Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills Note: If there are no applicants meeting the posted qualifications, the Employer MAY CONSIDER an applicant who does not meet the posted qualifications Interested and qualified applicants are invited to submit a detailed and current resume, plus a cover letter demonstrating how you meet the above qualifications and the above competition number.
