About the Opportunity Under the direction of the Program Manager and the supervision of an occupational therapist (OT), the occupational therapy assistant completes therapeutic and technical support duties in the delivery of occupational therapy services to Nova Scotia Health Authority clients both independently and collaboratively with health care team members and students. The occupational therapy assistant is responsible to adhere to Nova Scotia Health Authority policies and procedures. About You We would love to hear from you if you have the following: Graduated from a recognized community college occupational assistant program Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Demonstrate knowledge of the uses and sources of commercially available assistive devices and equipment Demonstrate knowledge of the properties and uses of various types of thermoplastic and splinting materials Demonstrate basic computer skills Demonstrate competence in the operation and maintenance of a variety of appliances and power equipment e.g.: sewing machine, table saw, band saw, belt sander Experience with populations with disabilities. Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred Please ensure your resume is up to date and includes all relevant education, experience, training, and certifications. This position is classified as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, those who have accredited Rehabilitation Assistant education (combination of Occupational Therapy Assistant & Physiotherapy Assistant programs) are invited to apply! Hours Permanent, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly Compensation and Incentives $22.72 - $25.82 Hourly Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
