The Opportunity The Medical Laboratory Technologist is a trained allied health professional who performs a variety of anatomical pathology services under the direction of a specialist Anatomical Pathologist and Charge Pathologists’ Assistant. This role is intended to provide a staff member to fulfill duties as a Histology laboratory technologist (embedding, sectioning, and staining, with the potential to cover for other additional duties in the Gross Room (including accessioning of surgical samples and fresh tissue processing). The Medical Laboratory Technologist will contribute to divisional efficiency by performing this broad range of tasks and helping to standardize and enhance the overall quality in the practice of Anatomical Pathology. Hours of Work 7.5 hour shifts; Rotating days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Your Qualifications Registered Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) or Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) or Bachelor of Science (BSc) with appropriate major required. Registered with CSMLS required. Licensed with NSCMLT required. Minimum one year of Anatomical Pathology experience required Well-developed organizational skills and communication skills required. The ability to work in a team environment in addition to independent work is essential. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to on-going training or professional development.
