The Opportunity Reporting to the Manager and under the supervision of the Clinical Leader, the General office clerk works independently and is responsible for the duties associated with booking and registration process. Responsibilities may include, but not limited to: scheduling ultrasounds and consultations; coordination of appointments; registration of patient visits; retrieval, labeling and filing of patient records; responding to telephone inquires; Order Entry of lab specimens; and other administrative duties as required Hours of Work Monday-Friday; 7.0 hour per shift Your Qualifications Minimum High School diploma or G.E.D. required Graduate from a recognized Office Administration Program preferred Previous experience in a similar role is an asset. Minimum six (6) months related administrative/secretarial experience preferred. A combination of equivalent education and experience may be considered Keyboarding skills minimum of 40 wpm required, 60 wpm is preferred (testing may be conducted on candidates) Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer programs/technology (testing may be conducted on candidates) Previous experience with Meditech and Community Wide Scheduling (CWS) preferred. Demonstrated strong time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills required Demonstrated ability to prioritize workloads required. Ability to work in fast paced team environment, while meeting strict deadlines Demonstrated excellent organization skills, strong communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills required. Demonstrated initiative; self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision/direction required. Demonstrated high regard for quality, accuracy, and attention to detail required. Demonstrated flexibility to meet workload demands required. Excellent judgment and discretion in handling confidential and/or sensitive information required. Demonstrated experience with office equipment (e.g., fax machine, photocopier) preferred. Competency in other languages considered an asset. Thank you for your interest in IWK Health.
