Please proceed using the link: https://app.traits.com/survey/a56e7669-2ba6-4573-83cd-800831da5362 POSITION OVERVIEW: Startec Compression & Process is currently recruiting for an Engineering Intern (Co-op) to work at our Shepard Office (9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6). The Engineering Intern position offers aspiring engineers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop technical skills, and contribute to real-world engineering projects. Interns work closely with experienced engineers, actively participating in project planning, problem-solving, and documentation. Reporting to the Package Engineering Supervisor, the Engineering Intern is encouraged to seek continuous learning, attend industry-related events, and engage in professional development. Additionally, the Engineering Intern will support project teams through administrative tasks, ensuring that project documentation, materials, and resources are organized and readily accessible. This role fosters a culture of safety, compliance, and collaboration while providing interns with a platform for growth and exploration within the dynamic field of engineering. This is a paid internship and can offer college credits as required. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI): PROJECT SUPPORT (Weighting 30%) Project Planning & Design Support Collaborate with senior engineers to understand project requirements and objectives. Participate in brainstorming sessions for project planning and design. Support the development of project scopes, objectives, and specifications. Conduct research on relevant engineering concepts, materials, and technologies. Gather data from various sources, such as technical documents, databases, and literature. Assist in the analysis of research findings to inform project decisions. Utilize engineering software and tools to perform calculations and simulations. Verify and validate data to ensure accuracy in engineering models. Assist in interpreting simulation results and making recommendations. Project Documentation & Quality Assurance Support Collaborate with engineers to generate technical reports, project plans, and design documentation. Assist in the creation of engineering drawings, diagrams, and schematics. Ensure that project documentation is organized, up-to-date, and accessible to team members. Assist in the preparation of project presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Summarize project progress, findings, and key insights in clear and concise reports. Participate in project review meetings to present updates and findings. Assist in quality control checks to ensure that project deliverables meet established standards. Identify and report any deviations or issues that may impact project quality. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with cross-functional teams, including designers, technicians, and project managers, to ensure seamless project execution. Maintain effective communication channels to relay project status and requirements. DESIGN & DOCUMENTATION (Weighting 25%) Engineering Drawings, Schematics & Reporting Support the design phase by creating detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and plans using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software or other relevant tools. Collaborate closely with project engineers to translate design concepts and specifications into accurate and comprehensive drawings. Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including technical reports, specifications, and design documentation. Contribute to the writing, editing, and formatting of technical reports to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements. Document Control & Design Review Participation Maintain organized project files and records, including all design documents, revisions, and related documentation. Facilitate the retrieval of project documents for internal and external stakeholders. Participate in design review meetings with project engineers and stakeholders to present design drawings and discuss design concepts. Actively engage in discussions, contribute insights, and document feedback and action items. QUALITY CONTROL COMPLIANCE (Weighting 25%) Quality Control Activities & Standards Familiarization Gain a deep understanding of the project's quality standards and specifications. Study industry-specific quality control measures and best practices. Collaborate with the project team to effectively interpret and apply quality standards. Conduct inspections, checks, and measurements on project components, materials, and workmanship as directed. Quality Control Corrective Actions, Audits & Compliance Document instances of non-compliance with quality standards, including photographs and measurements. Ensure accurate, well-organized, and timely submission of reports. Assist in implementing corrective actions to address identified quality issues. Monitor the progress and effectiveness of corrective actions and report on it. Ensure project activities align with established quality control protocols. TECHNICAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT (Weighting 20%) Engineering Concepts & Principles Actively engage in learning and applying fundamental engineering concepts and principles relevant to the specific project and organization. Attend training sessions, workshops, and seminars to deepen your understanding of engineering theories and methodologies. Collaborate with project engineers to relate theoretical knowledge to practical project applications Proficiency in Engineering Tools & Software’s Learn to effectively use engineering software and tools commonly employed in your field. Practice using CAD (Computer-Aided Design), simulation software, data analysis tools, and other relevant applications. Work with mentors to improve proficiency in specific software packages used within Startec. QUALIFICATIONS: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering from an accredited institution. Strong academic record and a genuine interest in engineering. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and teamwork abilities. Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges. Proficiency in computer applications relevant to engineering (CAD, simulation software, etc.) is an asset. Previous internship or project experience related to engineering is an asset.
