SBM is currently seeking an Electrical Draftsperson/Technologist in our Kitchener office. The successful candidate will assist the Electrical Engineering Department in drafting of buildings in the residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial sectors. The candidate will be required to work with the electrical design and engineering team in producing drawings for permit and construction. The candidate will be expected to work both independently and within the project group to facilitate the design requirements to reach project completion. The candidate will also be encouraged to take on special project tasks to help promote efficiencies of current design procedures and will have the opportunity to attend occasional site visits to provide practical feedback to complement completed design work. Other duties may be assigned dependent on the experience and abilities of the chosen candidate. The firm employs over 120 engineers, engineering trainees, technologists, technicians, planners, and administrative personnel. Key Responsibilities: Drafting of electrical systems and components Coordinate with the engineering team and other design disciplines as required Assist with engineering analysis, evaluations, designs and implementation for electrical systems Accept technical guidance from designers, engineers, and senior staff Occasional site visits as required Other tasks as assigned by Electrical Team Lead(s), Engineers or Division Manager Skills / Qualifications: Completed Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma, Architectural Technology Diploma or equivalent 0-2 years relevant experience Familiarity with building electrical systems such as lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, & communication an asset Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit considered an asset Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization Commitment to ongoing professional and personal growth; willingness to learn Ability to work both independently with little supervision and in a team environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills Adaptable and flexible to changing priorities Capable of working on and/or managing several projects at the same time Compensation: This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and annual performance bonus. The successful candidate will typically work 8am-5pm Monday-Thursday and 8am-2:30pm on Fridays.
