The Opportunity The primary responsibility of the Diagnostic Imaging Information Systems (DIIS) Technologist, under guidance of the DIIS Team Lead, is to oversee successful operation of diagnostic imaging information systems within the IWK. The DIIS Technologist provides application expertise and acts as the primary point of contact for problem/incident resolution, change management, key user education, equipment interfacing, and future implementation initiatives. The DIIS Technologist ensures existing NS PACS application standards are consistently applied and maintained across the IWK and the province. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Investigates and resolves issues arising within DIIS application(s), provides support to users and manages issues in line with Service Level Agreements between NS IMIT and IWK Plans, schedules, and initiates additional implementation of application(s) as required. In communication with IWK IT Services, plans, schedules, installs new DI equipment on NSHealth network and troubleshoots communication issues with DI Modalities and NS PACS equipment. Conducts application(s) software testing as directed by Leadership Monitors system utilization to determine compliance with policies and procedures, to assess training needs, and to ensure applications are being used to full potential. In collaboration with IWK Diagnostic Imaging Management evaluates, plans, develops, and schedules training sessions for both DI and Clinical application users as required. Plans, schedules and performs Quality Assurance testing on NS PACS equipment as required Provides local training and integration support for other Diagnostic Imaging applications such as HIS/RIS, voice recognition, NMIS, and modality post processing applications. Ensures NS PACS application standards and objectives are maintained and initiates review with stakeholders as required. From a province wide perspective, evaluates the impact of changes within NS PACS and recommends appropriate user actions based on current standards and best practice procedures. Through ongoing communication with system vendor and other external sources, such as scientific/technical publications, keeps abreast of changing technologies that may impact NS PACS system functionality Contributes to development and maintenance of electronic information. Maintains confidentiality of all family, patient, employee, and organization information. Provides statistical, utilization or other data as required. Utilize writing skills to produce letters, reports, documentation, training guides, etc. Hours of Work 75 hours bi-weekly After hours standby on a rotational basis Your Qualifications Degree or diploma in one or more specialties within the field of Diagnostic Imaging (e.g. Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, CT, Ultrasound, MRI) required Member in good standing with NSCMIRTP Minimum of three (3) years of experience in diagnostic imaging information systems including systems integration required Demonstrated knowledge of PACS/Enterprise Imaging and understanding of Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiology workflow Experience with NS Provincial PACS and Nuance PowerScribe are required Experience with Meditech Magic and Philips IntelliSpace Cardiovascular an asset Experience with HL7, networking principles and active directory concepts an asset Ability to teach in adult learning environment Extensive knowledge of DI operating policies and procedures and how DI activities interrelate with other health care disciplines and organizational services required Excellent computer and server skills. Knowledge of Windows and Unix-based systems and applications Knowledge of how similar departments may operate differently in health care facilities of varying size and focus is an asset Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills required to tactically and tactfully troubleshoot hardware, software and network issues Advanced working knowledge of other computer applications, such as: MS Office essentials, including MS Word, Outlook, Powerpoint and Excel, and other Diagnostic Imaging and healthcare related applications an asset Competencies in other languages an asset Thank you for your interest in IWK Health.
