About the Opportunity Reporting to the Chief Power Engineer – Nova Scotia Hospital, and on a 24-hour rotating shift basis, the 2nd Class Power Engineer, once trained in the operation of each plant he/she will be assigned to safely operate and maintain a Central Heating Plant (CHP) and all its auxiliary equipment at the Halifax Infirmary under the direction of that plant Chief. In accordance with all applicable codes and regulations, the 2nd Class Power Engineer monitors the steam boilers and distribution system, central refrigeration plants and all ventilation systems through the building energy management system. This position is responsible for receiving and taking appropriate action for resolution of urgent building related calls during silent hours, including holidays and weekends. About You We would love to hear from you if you have the following: Interprovincial Second Class Power Engineer License. Two years’ experience in a high pressure plant (steam) and associated equipment. Travel to other sites may be required. Excellent communication skills. Must be able to work independently. Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred Please ensure your resume is up to date and includes all relevant education, experience, training, and certifications. Hours Permanent, full-time position; 80 hours bi-weekly Compensation and Incentives $31.25 - $35.28 Hourly Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan. Successful candidates may also be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract. This position is currently eligible for a Market Adjustment of approximately $192.31 biweekly. Eligibility for a Market Adjustment is reviewed periodically.
