Kamy is currently on behavior hold and not available for adoption at this time. Foster or foster-to-adopt home needed in the Edmonton area! Kamy is a 2 year old spayed female. She is a very sweet dog who loves her cuddles, but is high anxiety and has some stranger danger when meeting new people in the home. She is pretty much the perfect dog on walks, however. She was previously in a foster home as a single dog, but the foster got super busy so she has since come back to headquarters and we have slowly integrated her into our pack. Because she was separated after coming back (because of the other dogs, not her) she started chewing inappropriately and her house training regressed. We have since introduced her to all our other dogs and cats and she is fine with them all. She gets a bit scared when the big male Dobe we have plays rough, but has ever escalated. We are confident that her behavior will continue to improve if she was in a home of her own, as she did not have these problems previously. She is crate trained so we have been crating her during the day and as long as we make sure she uses the bathroom when she goes outside, her housetraining is getting much better. Kamy’s weirdest behavior is that she tends to “see” things that aren’t there and bark at them frantically if not redirected. We’ve recently switched her from Prozac to Clomicalm to see if we can help her overcome this, but have yet to see any real positive results with meds. She seems to do this most when she is left alone and outside of her crate. As long as she is kept engaged and/or redirected promptly, it doesn't seem to be nearly as much of an issue. She also settles down almost immediately in her crate. Kamy does better in a quieter home and we think her ideal placement would be on an acreage. Kamy is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $500. All adopters must agree not to use any punitive training methods including, but not limited to, leash corrections; pinning; alpha rolls; and prong, pinch, choke, shock, or e-collars.
