Adopt MAX a Brown/Chocolate Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog in Langley

Location:
Langley, BC
Description:

Herrroooo! My name is MAX (or "Maximo", as I'm called down here in Mexico!) and here is some info about me:PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Shepherd Mix Age: 1.5 years Gender: Male Weight: 44 lbs (20 kg) **I am quite skinny and should probably put on another 5 lbs at least** Height: 68 cm (paws to top of my head) Length: 82 cm (head to butt) Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY - I was rescued as a small puppy from Ecatepec, a rural slum outside of Mexico City. Me and my brother, Bruno, were found together. As young pups all alone in a very dangerous neighbourhood, we didn't start our lives off in the best conditions. We feel so thankful to have been rescued, as we surely wouldn't have survived long in Ecatepec alone. I now live at the shelter and although I'm very well taken care of, I would love nothing more than to have a home to call my own!TEMPERAMENT - I am a young, energetic, and handsome boi who is eager for attention. I have not had much structure in my life to-date, so I'm looking for a calm, confident owner who can show me how to be a well behaved boy. I'll admit, I can be a bit of an uncoordinated, exhuberant goof ball at times... so I will need a patient hooman to adopt me and show me the ropes of life! I love to get scratches from the shelter volunteers and I am a great playmate to my shelter doggy friends. ENERGY LEVEL - High - I'm still a puppy (albeit a large one), so I am quite energetic. I play hard but I crash hard too. Being a shepherd mix, I will need to work my brain as well as my body. I'm looking for a home where I can get lots of physical and mental exercise daily! After I'm sufficiently exercised, I'm happy to snooze and catch up on missed scritches.GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. Dogs – Yup! In general, I'm a great playmate - check out the video of me hanging out with a bunch of other dogs at the shelter! I like to wrestle with dogs my size. NOTE: I can be a bit selective in my playmates at times. If I'm not a fan of another dog, I may growl or bark as if to say "no thank you". This behaviour has only been prevalent around my brother Bruno, who I think I'm quite protective of. Cats – Unknown. PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.TRAINING: Leash skills – Work in progress. As you can see from my video , I'm quite the puller (the big strong boi that I am!) I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash work will help set me up for success! House trained – Work in progress, although I know I should do my business outside in the yard at the shelter. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn quickly in my new home :) Please Note: WCP Dog Rescue partners with Unleashed Dog Training (Hannah Swain) to offer adopters one training session at a rate of $25. Any subsequent sessions will be offered at a rate of $50. WCP also highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives. HEALTH NOTES: I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible.
