Adopt DIJON (Turkey) mt a White - with Brown or Chocolate Terrier (Unknown Type

Location:
Langley, BC
Description:

Hello People of the Maple Leaf! My name is Dijon and here is a little info about me.Breed: Terrier mix (possibly with Briquet Griffon Vendeen)Age: 1 -1/2 yearsGender: MaleWeight: 15.5 kgHeight: tbdHighlights: friendly, intelligent, stubborn, playful, clownish sense of humorDid someone mention dog sports? I think I'd love rally, scent work or agility games. I like to engage both my mind and body.At just a few months old, I was found wandering the streets in Turkey and taken to a shelter. Someone adopted me, but they were inexperienced in taking care of a puppy, so they surrendered me back to the shelter. The volunteers at the shelter raised me.I am as playful and friendly, as I am intelligent and stubborn (you know what they say - more stubborn they are, the smarter they are. BIG GRIN.) Though an affectionate and gentle guy, you'll also see my clownish side displaying a sense of humor. I responds well to positive reinforement training, so things should work well for teaching me to listen well.I enjoy daily walks, playtime in a secure area, and mental stimulationthrough interactive games and training exercises. I may have a hunting scent background, so activities that engage those instincts, would be enjoyable for me. While I get along well with other dogs and pets, it is good that I continue to get proper socialization to maintain balance. I am just a young pup yet after all.Is shelter dogs tend to pick up house training fairly quickly, as we know what outside our pens and don't like to sully where we sleep. I will probably need leash training, as I have good energy and have never really received any training. Again though, I am super smart, so should learn fast.Energy Level: HighPrey drive: None observed. Please consult a trainer, should these issues arise.Fears: None observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.I get along with:Dogs: YesCats: Unknown, rescuer states yes, as he grew up with catsKids: UnknownTraining: noneLeash: no. Please be prepared to train me.House trained: no. Please be prepared to help me learn!Health notes:I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. Dogs from Turkey receive a 4DX snap test. ##1762927##
