Meet Lemur, the charming feline with enchanting round eyes and an adorable face reminiscent of a lemur monkey! This sweet and affectionate boy has transitioned from a semi-feral outdoor life to embracing the joys of indoor living. Now, he's on the lookout for a loving human and a forever home to call his own.Lemur is not your ordinary cat - he's a delightful character with a playful spirit. Witness him chasing his own tail, executing playful somersaults, and displaying his affection by drooling a bit when being petted. Always ready for attention, Lemur eagerly joins you on the couch or bed for endless petting sessions - the ideal companion for cozy TV-watching evenings!Despite his love for interaction, Lemur is not high-maintenance or clingy. He entertains himself with playful gallops down the hallway, acrobatics on cat trees, and indulging in his favorite Yeowww catnip toys. This older gentleman has plenty of energy and is seeking an active playmate to share in the fun - he's excellent with other cats. Additionally, his litterbox habits are impeccable.Lemur does have early-stage kidney disease, a common occurrence in aging cats. However, it's easily managed with a special diet, which he adores, and twice-weekly sub-Q injections. He handles these injections well, especially when accompanied by plenty of pets and treats.Having spent his early days on the streets, Lemur can be a bit shy around strangers and may require an adjustment period in a new environment. In the past few months, Lemur has been gaining confidence around unfamiliar faces, even approaching seated guests to request pets. Once you gain his trust, Lemur promises to keep you thoroughly entertained with his endearing quirks. He's patiently waiting for his retirement home, where he can bask in the undivided attention of his very own human.One charming habit he's developed is standing on his hind legs and popping his head up over the chair arm or bed's side before joining you. His funny face peeking up is sure to bring a smile to your face as he settles in for pets and a cozy nap beside his favorite humans. Lemur is ready to bring joy and companionship to a lucky individual or family - could that be you?!Lemur would do well as a buddy to a friendly, playful resident cat, but he could do well as the solo cat in the home provided he gets all the attention and cuddles he wants :)Lemur had a dental cleaning in June 2023. Due to his early renal disease, Lemur requires bloodwork every 6 months and is next due in January 2024. Like all ACR cats, Lemur has been treated for fleas and parasites. Annex Cat Rescue has matched over 1000 cats and kittens with good adoptive homes since our group started! Annex Cat Rescue cats live in real homes with our foster volunteers -- not in cages! This way, the cats live in normal homes and receive good food and medical care -- and lots of personal attention. We get to know each cat, so we can help you find the best cat for you. It's kind of like a kitty match-making service! All of our cats are vaccinated, have been de-wormed, and are spayed or neutered once they reach six months of age. We are always available if you have questions or concerns as your new cat is adjusting to your home. Here is our adoption process: Please leave a voice mail or email. One of our Adoption Team volunteers will contact you to find out more about the kind of kitty you are looking for. We will suggest which of our cats might be the best match for you, and put you in touch with a few foster homes for you to contact. You can go and visit the cat in the foster home and see if you think it's a match. If you fall in love on the spot (so easy with kitties!) we ask you to go home and think about it overnight, since it's an important decision for you and for the kitty. Then, if it's a match, you can bring your cat carrier (and the adoption fee -- which is modest and does not cover all of our expenses) then take your kitty home! We ask all adopters to sign our adoption agreement, which just sets out some basics so we all understand our roles, with the kitty's best interests first and foremost! A day or two later, we'll call you to make sure all is well and provide any suggestions that might be helpful, if needed. The Annex Cat Rescue's motto is "Cat Adoption with a Difference." If the adoption does not work out (a rare occurrence, in part due to our excellent "match-making"!), whatever the reason, the cat will always be welcomed back to our organization. Our organization attempts to make a real difference for the homeless, stray and abandoned cats in this city through direct intervention and education. Every day, many people turn to us for help when Toronto Animal Services cannot. ACR does *not* run an animal shelter. All of our cats/kittens live in volunteer foster homes across Toronto where they are allowed to blossom and grow in a "home" environment (rather than in cages), and where they receive individual attention and love. While this prevents possible behavioural problems associated with caging animals, this also allows us to get to know each animal intimately and thus we can make excellent matches with adopters. Potential adopters are required to make appointments to view the animals in their respective homes. Our organization is "no kill". This means that cats in our care remain in foster homes are not euthanized (except for dire humane reasons). City shelters do not have such a policy.
