Jill, Domestic Shorthair For Adoption In Toronto, Ontario

Location:
Toronto, ON
Description:

Meet Jill!Jill will greet you with meows and flop down for floor snuggles. She loves playtime and meows excitedly when the toy drawer opens! Jill is content to hang out on a perch looking out the window or sleep on a chair next to you. She often comes by for head rubs, and will sit in your lap for treats. Each night Jill tucks herself into bed, and in the morning politely waits or plays until the humans get up. Initially shy, Jill thrives in a predictable environment with a routine. Also curious, she enjoys inspecting new things and trying new toys. Playtime's the #1 way to build Jill's confidence in new environments. Though she has a cubby where she goes if she gets spooked, encouragement or a treat often draws her out. Jill needs an experienced person willing to help expand her comfort zone. She may not be suited to small children or other pets, though we haven't observed her with a companion cat. Due to immune issues, Jill had all her teeth removed and is on liquid medicine that gets mixed into her wet food. Jill still loves kibble though, and tube treats! Jill's cute habit of saying ‘thanks' with a head bump before tucking in to her meal will melt your heart. We're working on carrier training at the moment, she doesn't like to be picked up and a towel is a simple way to bring her to the carrier. Jill has impeccable litter box habits and is good about using her scratcher. Due to chronic inflammation issues, Jill has had all her teeth removed and is prone to skin irritation. She is on a once-daily liquid medication to manage these issues.Like all ACR cats, Jill has been treated for fleas and parasites. Jill is negative for FIV and FeLV.Check out a video of Jill by following this link: https://youtube.com/watch?v=AhvfkseIlyk&feature=sharedAdoption process If you are thinking of adopting a cat or kitten, please contact us. Annex Cat Rescue has matched over 1000 cats and kittens with good adoptive homes since our group started! Annex Cat Rescue cats live in real homes with our foster volunteers -- not in cages! This way, the cats live in normal homes and receive good food and medical care -- and lots of personal attention. We get to know each cat, so we can help you find the best cat for you. It's kind of like a kitty match-making service! All of our cats are vaccinated, have been de-wormed, and are spayed or neutered once they reach six months of age. We are always available if you have questions or concerns as your new cat is adjusting to your home. Here is our adoption process: Please leave a voice mail or email. One of our Adoption Team volunteers will contact you to find out more about the kind of kitty you are looking for. We will suggest which of our cats might be the best match for you, and put you in touch with a few foster homes for you to contact. You can go and visit the cat in the foster home and see if you think it's a match. If you fall in love on the spot (so easy with kitties!) we ask you to go home and think about it overnight, since it's an important decision for you and for the kitty. Then, if it's a match, you can bring your cat carrier (and the adoption fee -- which is modest and does not cover all of our expenses) then take your kitty home! We ask all adopters to sign our adoption agreement, which just sets out some basics so we all understand our roles, with the kitty's best interests first and foremost! A day or two later, we'll call you to make sure all is well and provide any suggestions that might be helpful, if needed. The Annex Cat Rescue's motto is "Cat Adoption with a Difference." If the adoption does not work out (a rare occurrence, in part due to our excellent "match-making"!), whatever the reason, the cat will always be welcomed back to our organization. We want the best for our kitties! Please contact us today!Shelter locationThe Annex Cat Rescue is a grassroots community organization. We are 100% non-paid volunteer-run. Our organization attempts to make a real difference for the homeless, stray and abandoned cats in this city through direct intervention and education. Every day, many people turn to us for help when Toronto Animal Services cannot. ACR does *not* run an animal shelter. All of our cats/kittens live in volunteer foster homes across Toronto where they are allowed to blossom and grow in a "home" environment (rather than in cages), and where they receive individual attention and love. While this prevents possible behavioural problems associated with caging animals, this also allows us to get to know each animal intimately and thus we can make excellent matches with adopters. Potential adopters are required to make appointments to view the animals in their respective homes. Our organization is "no kill". This means that cats in our care remain in foster homes are not euthanized (except for dire humane reasons). City shelters do not have such a policy.
