DOB: December 28, 2017Large boy with an even larger heart looking for a lap to call his own…How could you say no to this adorable face?! Mookie is a sweet, gentle giant, who only wants to give and receive love. As soon as you enter the room, Mookie will be at your feet with a couple welcoming squeaks. Is he motivated by food? Sure, but he is also very much motivated by affection. He’ll strut back and forth a few times to get some head-to-tail pets and then you’ll see his signature move: The Flippy-Floppy (heavy on the floppy). Picture a turtle on its back. Mookie has been diagnosed with bilateral luxating patella, which a physical condition in which the kneecap, called the patella, moves out or becomes dislocated from its normal position. His condition is being managed on monthly pain injections as well as oral medication. While surgery is an option, it is not curative so we have opted for medical management to spare Mookie the stress of undergoing extensive surgery.Due to Mookie’s medical condition (luxating patella), he is on a structured diet to support weight loss to help better manage his condition.He doesn't meow much but will squeak or croak. Mookie is easily picked up and handled, however, this is not his favourite activity. He would much rather lay on the couch with you, have a wrestling match with a wand toy, or chase his toy whale around the room. Playtime is a given, whether it be with a friend or solo.
