REDUCED - MOTIVATED SELLERThe AQUA GEM has recently had a Mechanical & Operational Systems Inspection HistoryThe Bombay 31 is a moderate displacement, round bilge, moulded motor sailing sloop designed by Walter Scott.New Bombay Trading Company began production of the 31 Pilothouse in 1976 producing very few vessels before closing in 1979.The present owner acquired the Aqua Gem in 2001 and did a complete refit of the Pilothouse 31.Included in the refit was re powering with the Kubota V2203, new water and fuel tanks, new head and holding tank, complete electrical system replacement, new sails, rigging removed refurbished and updated, hull stripped and repainted, deck/hull joint refurbished, deck stripped of hardware and painted with new hardware, new galley stove and propane system installation, and interior cabinetry refurbished where required. All work was completed professionally and done to a high standard. Vessel LayoutOn deck a short flush foredeck runs aft to a sloping cabin trunk over the head and V berth. Aft is the pilothouse trunk that encompasses the main salon and galley.Windows and opening hatches on the cabin trunk and pilothouse provide excellent light below, while maintaining a strong deck structure.The side decks are wide with rigging shrouds and genoa tracks set outboard for easy passage.An anchor locker has ample space for chain. The locker is accessible of the V berth.The aluminum mast is deck stepped, supported by stainless steel rigging and a keel mounted compression post.The large self draining cockpit has substantial stainless steel railings and lifelines making the cockpit safe while underway.A rigid hull inflatable is mounted on davits off the stern as well as a boarding ladder.Below decks there is a V berth to port and ample storage including a hanging locker.Fresh water tankage is below the berth with an on deck filler.The head is aft to port and opposite is storage and the control panels for the vessels 110V and 12V power systems.The main salon has a large dinette to port that adapts for an additional berth and the galley is to starboard. Access to the engine is through the hinged steps from the cockpit and provides good access.Vessel ParticularsThe overall condition of the Bombay 31 was found to be good based on the finding of a March 18 2020 marine survey.Hull above the waterline has minor evidence of wear and tear and the deck and anti skid surfaces showed minor cosmetic defects.Below the waterline there are no signs of impact or blistering.The skeg hung rudder is GPR with a stainless steel shaft and the rudder bearing, cutlass bearing and propeller are in good condition.The cabin interior is in good condition including the upholstery and of note is the 7' head clearance and excellent 360 views.There are tubular stainless steel bow and stern pulpits, side stanchions supported by upper and lower lifelines. Ground tackle includes a 15# CQR anchor with 300' of 1/4" G4 chain, a Maxwell VWC 1500 windlass with controls on the foredeck and a wireless remote from the cockpit.A spare Danforth anchor with 200' of rode is stored to the cockpit port side locker.The rig in in very good condition and the standing rigging was refurbished during the refit.The foresail is stowed on a Schaefer roller furling.Anderson 12ST winches and Lewmar 30ST winches for the head sail and genaker management are fitted port and starboard in the cockpit.The mainsail is managed by a Harker traveller is found ahead of the companionway with Anderson 12ST winches on the mast.The mainsail is stowed on the boom and is fitted with a slab reefing system with boom supported by a Forespar boom-vang.All sails have been well maintained and in excellent condition.The refit Kubota was professionally fitted and all hoses and wiring associated with the engine are properly secured, clamped and in excellent condition.The shaft seal is dripless.The vessel's 12V system includes a G27 starter battery stored aft of the engine and 2x Lifeline AGM D4 batteries secured below the main salon sole.The battery control switch is located at the salon companionway entry. Batteries are charged of the engine alternator and from a Victron Centaur 30 amp charger.A Xantrex ProWatt 1000 inverter is controlled in the starboard area where the Blue Seas AC/DC main breaker panel is installed.AC outlets are GFI protected to meet ABYC standards.Propane storage is in a vented sealed locker to starboard in the cockpit and has a solenoid and regulator.A Xintex S-2A gas vapour detector/alarm system with a solenoid on/off switch is installed in the salon.The galley Gourmet propane stove top/oven has thermo couplings and meets ABYC standards.The ice box has a Dan Foss refrigeration unit .Pressurized water is supplied to the galley and head from 3 alloy tanks mounted below the v berth and main salon sole with a total volume of 100 gallons.Hot water is supplied by a 5.3 gallon Isotemp AC water heater that is plumbed into the engine cooling.A Vacuflush toilet with a Sealand vacuum generator empty into a 25 gallon polyethylene holding tank.Cabin heat is supplied by a bus-heater connected to the engine cooling.
