SmartWorks is seeking a talented and motivated technical consultant who can balance their computer skills, business knowledge, and strong people skills. The technical consultant will liaison with our customers, development teams and 3rd party software vendors to deploy applications that assist utilities in transforming their businesses with new real time data, analytics, and business process automation. As a trusted customer advocate, the technical consultant helps our utilities clients understand and a build a strategy to interface with all new data sources, automate tedious manual business processes, and implement solutions to assist in realizing the potential of investments in smart meters and smart grids. As technical consultant, you will be required to travel throughout North America approx 30% of the time. While you're not traveling throughout Canada and the US, you will able to take advantage of our remote culture and work from home or if you would prefer, you can work out of our corporate headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario! Details * Build a knowledge of Smart Metering infrastructure and best practices on analysis of corresponding data * Design implement and document solution using SmartWork’s application suite that enables customers to solve complex business problems * Design and integrate SmartWork’s application suite with 3rd party software interfaces * Lead or assist in training sessions with SmartWork’s customers * Collaborate with experienced consultants, R&D and support to develop best practices in the SmartWork’s customer community * Act as a liaison between R&D, support, clients and 3rd party vendors and consultants Qualifications * 3+ years of background in 1 or more of the following area + Technical Consultant + Solution Architect + Software Design or Development + Software Support Analyst * Strong grasp of SQL and 1 or more Enterprise Database Software such as SQL Server, Oracle, etc. * Strong working understanding of object oriented design (C/C++ or Java) * Comfortable working in Linux and Windows * Superior verbal and written skills * Previous background in designing and implementing software interfaces is an asset * Previous background in training customers and writing technical documents is an asset * Previous background in the Utilities industry is an asset but not necessary * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar Harris is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
