Job category: Full-time Location: ON Toronto - CN030 KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Prepares account reconciliations and analysis of assigned balance sheet accounts and reviews any balance sheet accounts prepared by staff prior to submitting to manager for review and approval Works closely with Director and Manager on improving departmental processes to gain efficiencies, makes recommendations on improving established policies and procedures, prepares documentation and implements changes Manages monitoring and follow up of intercompany freight billings and unbilled immediate payments including WIP accounts with operations Assists with research of complex payment issues in our payable and operating systems. Prepares journal entries and other analyses for month / quarter and year in close in the area assigned. Investigation and resolves or escalates issues relating to financial data quality, unusual transactions, outstanding items and reconciliations to manager or freight and brokerage team(s) when necessary Participates and / or may lead projects, if required Trains, mentors and coaches’ staff (if applicable) on the following but not limited to account reconciliations and analysis, financial systems and policies and procedures Prepares reports for Manager/Director and or Finance team when requested Liaise with internal and external auditors. Respond to inquiries, info and reports as requested Identifies process gaps and recommends remediation / training where required to Manager Performs other related duties as assigned by management KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) Min years (five years) in corporate finance, systems or report writing Solid knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS Ability to think critically and recommend ideas for improvement of existing policies and practices Proficiency in Access / Data base creation / management Advanced knowledge of Ms excel Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to implement solutions Ability to prioritize and effectively manage varying deadlines Excellent communications (oral and written) skills Excellent people skills Strong attention to detail In-depth knowledge of preparing and analyzing account reconciliations In-depth knowledge of accounting systems Ability to coach, mentor and guide teammates Proficiency in Ms word and Outlook Ability to work under pressure, meet aggressive deadlines, work on various deliverables simultaneously and prioritize Ability to operate independently but as a part of a team WORK BACKGROUND – MIN REQUIRED 5yrs of related skills EDUCATION Required: Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Finance or Accounting Preferred: Masters Degree or equivalent COMPETENCIES Business Acumen and Straight Talk Agility Customer 1st Focus Inclusion and Collaboration Accountability Leading and Developing Livingston is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.
