Your Opportunity: In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual max of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Description: Working from the Grand Prairie Environmental Public Health office, the Safe Healthy Environments Manager is a key leadership role in Population Public Indigenous Health. Reporting directly to the North Zone Director, the Manager is responsible and accountable for managing the Northwest Environmental Public Health operational team in the planning, delivery and evaluation of the Environmental Public Health program in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. As a frontline manager and appointed Executive Officer under the authority of the Public Health Act, you will be responsible and accountable for providing technical ability and direction, team leadership, responding to emerging public health issues, and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The Manager performs additional leadership roles related to employee contract interpretation, labour relations, position management, assigning work, granting time off and overtime, promotions, recruitment, discipline, and termination. Classification: Manager * Union: Exempt * Department: Environmental Public Health * Primary Location: Grande Prairie Public Health * Temporary Employee Class: Temp F/T Benefits * FTE: 1.00 * Posting End Date: 15-NOVEMBER-2019 * Date Available: 13-JAN-2020 * Temporary End Date: 09-NOVEMBER-2020 * Hours per Shift: 7.75 * Length of Shift in weeks: two * Shifts per cycle: ten * Shift Pattern: Days * Days Off: As Per Rotation * Min Salary: $36.68 * Max Salary: $62.91 * Vehicle Requirement: Driver's License, Vehicle Required Required background: A min of 5 years in a leadership role ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity (healthcare background an asset). A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada) and Regular membership of the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors, and the maintenance of the Continuing Professional Competencies Program. This job mandates a vehicle for business use. Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel is required. Additional Minimum requirements: As Required. Preferred Requirements: Effective communicator with strong management expertise, influential skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Leadership skills, including demonstrated skill and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others.
