General Manager/Operations Manager Greater Toronto Area Reporting directly to the Vice President, Food Services the General Manager/Operations Manager, will be responsible for the overall operation. The key responsibilities will be to provide leadership in the areas of people management, food production, supply chain, maintenance, product development, continuous improvement and health and safety. This role will have three direct reports: Plant Manager (PM), Supply Chain Manager (SCM) and Product Development Manager (PDM) Leadership and People Management Hires, motivates and develops teammates by providing regular feedback, ensuring workplace standards, policies are followed and by completing on-time performance appraisals Coaches and trains teammates to maintain the highest level of personal and team productivity to ensure strong computer skills and on-going product knowledge Conducts regular team player meetings to ensure effective communication on company initiatives, goals and objectives You will role model the importance of health and safety by always working safely, calling out and addressing any safety issues and recognizing risks which may pose a danger. Plant Production Works closely with PM in the areas of volume planning, managing cost, equipment selection and maintenance to ensure store orders are met, and there is minimal supply disruption to optimize production, inventory turns, and ingredient use Has final authority over team player schedules, contract services, maintenance, and other plant operating expenses Responsible for the financial performance, shrink, transfer sales and budgeting including setting, monitoring and communicating key performance indicators and metrics Upholds GMP and identifies and introduces best practices in management and production for continuous improvement Supply Chain Authorizes use and selection of ingredients to support production and product development requirements ensuring all product specifications and formulations are met Responsible for long range supply planning for production based on food trends and supports the PDM and SCM with product forecasting for limited time offers, promotions and/or seasonal event production Completes product consumption models and predictors to assist with production and budget formulation Follows up with SCM to ensure accurate billing to stores and that any inquiries are addressed Follows up to ensures accurate meal kit costs are in the system and that yield analysis is scheduled and completed to validate weight and specifications Inspire SCM and PDM to continually identify new product, and packaging to keep assortment relevant, and leading edge Create and execute end-to-end Supply Chain plans to meet changing customer needs in areas of health and wellness Collaborate with Merchandising Directors and Category Managers. Support the QA Manager to ensure all products are in compliance with government regulations, certification requirements and Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) label registration. Product Development Ensures benchmarking and competitive reviews are scheduled and completed to ensure products exceed trade standards Conducts research to create trending product development plans that also take store and customer requests into consideration Implements product development matrix to ensure development is synchronized with new product and category plans Provides alternatives, and or solutions when new menu items are not meeting performance requirements Follows up on product comparison panels, sensory evaluations and team meetings to introduce new and reformulated items Conducts annual product review to determine what 3rd party, or store made items warrant consideration for production Requirements Bachelor of Science Degree in related position or related skills Several years background in a highly perishable, fresh food and quick paced manufacturing environment Thorough knowledge of Federal, Provincial, Occupational Health and Safety, Workers' Compensation & Environmental Protection Act laws and regulations Background in Continuous Process Improvement, Risk Assessment and Root Cause Analysis Proficient computer skills including Word, PowerPoint, Ms excel, Outlook and an aptitude to learn in-house applications Effective team leader and business partner with strong customer service skills Expertise to prioritize and manage multiple projects/tasks and changing priorities Strong creative and analytical approach to issue solving Excellent oral and written correspondence skills Keywords: Keywords: Operation Management, Project Manager, Operations Manager, General Manager, Plant Manager, Operations Manager, Operations Management, Director of Operations, Management, Food, Food Industry, Food Manufacturing, Fresh Food, Perishable Food, Ontario, ON, York, Etobicoke, Scarborough, North York, Mississauga, Brampton, Woodbridge, Oakville, Milton, Concord, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Pickering, Ajax, Oshawa, Newmarket, Georgetown, Hamilton, Burlington, GTA
