This role is located in our plant in Cambridge, Ontario. JOB SUMMARY The Plant Financial Analyst is responsible for and not limited to accounting activities; financial reporting and analysis; planning/budgeting, financial forecasting; ensuring integrity of the financial data; providing financial leadership and support to the plant in achieving its financial and operational objectives; and ensuring the appropriate business controls are deployed. The incumbent performs any other related tasks upon request. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinate and perform month-end activities including processing journals, reconciling balance sheet accounts and performing account analysis. Prepare financial statements Review and implement management and financial reporting Analyze financial results including performing sales and gross profit analysis, analysing material and overhead variances as well as understanding cash flow variances including inventory Highlight accounting and financial issues and provide recommendations to management Prepare budgets and forecasts Implement management systems to provide appropriate financial headlights on measurements and forecasts including but not limited to labour and cost of quality analysis Initiate supplier chargebacks in a timely manner and review customer claims for legitimacy Track financial risks and opportunities for management to achieve plant profitability targets and co-ordinate activities with the plant to ensure action plans are achieved Reviews and monitors product cost structures and price set-ups Monitor inventory levels and address issues Develop, support & monitor business control requirements Provide financial leadership in supporting the plant's operational initiatives Support the development of process re-engineering activities at the plant level Safe Operations - works and if required, assists or directs/manages others to perform work only if it can be done so that no work site accident or illness results from any operational activity. EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS Professional Accounting Designation (CMA / CGA) or University Business Degree Accounting / Finance experience at an intermediate level Minimum of 5 years' experience in accounting and financial analysis. Strong computer skills. Excel, Word, Lotus etc. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills. EFFORT Requires periods of mental and visual concentration during computer work and resolving problems. Volume of work can vary with periods of high demand, multiple issues and time pressures. RESPONSIBILITY Emphasis on completeness, accuracy, and timeliness in the management of financial data. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Demonstrated planning and organizing skills to manage multiple processes. WORKING CONDITIONS Most work is carried out in a typical business office, with frequent visits to the shop floor that require wearing personal protective equipment (safety footwear, hearing protection, safety glasses) in appropriate areas. Requires attending meetings and telephone conference calls.
