Engineer II - Home Security & Connected Home

Join our team The Home Security & Connected Home team is responsible for developing technologies to drive an exceptional customer background in the evolving smart home space. This includes providing the best possible security and automation solutions while seamlessly integrating with TELUS' existing in-home products for voice, data, and video. Most of the equipment that sits in a customer's home is chosen, tested and supported by our team. Here's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish together You will become a subject matter expert on home security & connected home products. You will use your growing knowledge of technologies, vendor plans, and industry trends to provide guidance on our product roadmap. Working with a team of Engineers in our connected home lab, you will be responsible to select, test, standardize, and support devices that will be deployed on the customer premise.Together we will standardize and launch TELUS' next generation of home security & connected home devices. Here's how •Perform testing, documentation, and ongoing support of home security devices •Evaluate new home security and connected home products for deployment •Research new products, features, ecosystems and industry trends •Provide guidance on the smart home roadmap, including integration with TELUS' existing suite of services (internet, TELEVISION, Wi-Fi, phone) and with third party services (Google, Amazon, Nest etc.) •Act as Subject Matter Expert when engaging with both internal stakeholders and external vendors/partners Requirements: You're the missing piece of the puzzle •Prior background conducting device testing or quality assurance •Knowledge of diagnostics and troubleshooting methods for hardware and communications systems •Expertise to write and execute detailed test procedures and plans •Interest in home automation products and ecosystems •Current understanding of product life cycle management •Superior verbal and written correspondence skills •3-five years of technical engineering background •University degree in Engineering or Computer Science Great-to-haves •Prior background configuring, testing, and supporting home security systems •Current knowledge of home security signaling protocols •Understanding of Internet of Things (IoT) transport protocols such as: z-wave, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi •Working understanding of penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and security-by-design •Background in software engineering, Application Programming Interface (API) integration, and Cloud computing Who is TELUS?
