Design Engineer/Technologist I (Testing)

This role reports to the QA Testing Manager and its main focus is: Conceptualize, design, analyze, verify, validate (test), and accurately document the development of completion tools that provide solutions to complex down-hole applications. Provide support in the Engineering related maintenance of Packers Plus’ products Key Tasks and Responsibilities Complete small to medium design projects with moderate level of supervision Complete all tasks (models, drawings, calculations, testing, technical documentation) required to drive projects from concept to production Provide recommendations on design and processes, based on sound engineering principles, to continually improve efficiencies in new product design Research industry advances in technology, materials, and standards to ensure innovation in new product design Provide engineering guidance and recommendations to various departments on manufacturing, assembly, testing, and operational standards of new and existing tool designs Revise and maintain drawings and models as necessary to ensure they continue to meet Packers Plus standards Review technical documents for accuracy and completeness Support other Designers as required to aid in product development Ensure compliance with Packers Plus Health and Safety Program Background and Skills Background with down-hole tools an asset Familiar with basic oilfield operations an asset 0 to four years of background in a similar role Education and Training Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum or other related position) or equivalent background Local Professional membership (e.g. APEGA/ASET in Alberta) is an asset Role Competencies Planning & Organizing Action Oriented Issue solving Technical learning Technical Competencies High mechanical and mathematical aptitude Technical communication, knowledge of drafting standards Knowledge of engineering principals, concepts, standards, and industry practices Current knowledge of 3D CAD (SolidWorks) software LabVIEW programming background is an asset Physical and Safety Qualifications Lifting/carrying up to 40 pounds Extended periods of sitting at a desk using computer, keyboard, and mouse Position is Safety Sensitive and subject to a pre-employment medical assessment and drug & alcohol testing Subject to post-incident and reasonable-cause drug & alcohol testing The successful applicant will be part of a small, cohesive team, so people skills and the expertise to develop relationships is essential.
