Position Summary Reporting to the Manager, Fund Development, the Coordinator, Grants, manages granting and reporting for the Calgary Drop-In Centre. In this role, the incumbent is committed to the vision, mission, values and strategic priorities of the Development & Engagement team and the DI, as a whole. The coordinator will possess the ability to work with a high degree of independence and multi- tasking while maintaining a strategic perspective on the DI’s approach to grant management. Together, with the Manager, the Coordinator develops the grant management framework and reporting plans for the department and ensures successful achievement of annual goals and targets. Ongoing evaluation for continuous improvement and demonstrated impact are keys to success. You are a fund development professional with solid project management and writing skills, passionate about helping Calgarians who are experiencing homelessness, marginalization, or extreme poverty. You are results oriented and have a positive outlook and a hands-on, get-things-done attitude. You develop effective working relationships, can work flexibly across professional and operational boundaries, and can communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders at different levels. You support internal and external collaborative capacity building and emergent frameworks, methods and tools for greater revenue generation and community impact. Sound judgment, problem solving skills, diplomacy, an eye for detail and commitment to meeting deadlines are important personal attributes for this position. Duties & Responsibilities Grant Management Sets grant management goals and objectives, aligned with department, pillar and organization business plans. Takes initiative to look for unplanned opportunities for revenue generation through granting. Engages and/or consults with appropriate internal and/or external resources to optimize the accuracy and success of grant applications for the DI. Ensures data integrity/tracking of contract funding, grant opportunities and deadlines. Develops and documents process and procedures related to grant management. Liaises with Finance and subject matter experts to ensure content and budget accuracy. Capitalizes on opportunities to build healthy relationships internally and externally. Define expectations for self and others within the parameters of grant management, and acts to fulfill these expectations. Self-reflect, monitor, and correct one’s own actions. Self-motivated and flexible, manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment of frequent change and within an ambiguous landscape. Reporting Manages reporting for contracts, grants, and other fundraising-related activities Ensures data integrity regarding reports Engages and/or consults with appropriate internal and/or external resources to optimize the accuracy and success of reports for the DI. Liaises with Finance and subject matter experts to ensure content and budget accuracy Fosters a culture of philanthropy throughout the Drop-In Centre, so that everyone recognizes the importance of stewarding positive relationships and problem-solving for the best possible, mutually beneficial outcomes Engagement Contributes to community engagement programming, as required. Builds and maintains sustainable relationships with funders and grantors Provides leadership, strategic management, expertise, and counsel on granting, reporting and community engagement Identifies new worthwhile projects Required Competencies Post-secondary education or diploma in a related field or commensurate experience A minimum of 3 years’ experience in grant writing required Related experience and a proven record of success, preferably in complex non-profit environment Proven skills and experience managing relationships Self directed and action oriented Knowledge of Donor Bill of Rights and Fundraising Code of Ethics required Energetic and self-directed, with effective time management and organizational skills including the ability to deal with multiple priorities at the same time Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written Proficient in Office365 and Microsoft Office Suite 2016 Eager to learn new systems and adopt improved best practices Working Conditions While your position does not normally consist of front line work, it is important for us to tell you that front-line staff are exposed to emotionally disturbing events, such as: medical distress, threatened/actual serious injury, violence, abuse, and death; where clients may be experiencing fear, terror, hopelessness, rage, self-harm and conflict. It is understood and accepted that you will be working in distress and/or high-stress situations, which may include emergency response where resiliency and stress tolerance and the ability to maintain composure, remain calm and focused is imperative.
