At Green Acres Foundation Cook II employees assist with the preparation of meals, maintaining kitchen organization and cleanliness in a smooth and efficient manner, safe food handling, and inventory control. Duties inlcude, but are not limited to, the following: Assist with the planning, preparation, and production of appetizing, tasty, and nutritious food appropriate for seniors within the following organizational guidelines: follow the six-week cyclical menu plan, while creatively varying protein component prepare meals and snacks from scratch using as little processed/prepared food as possible emphasize appealing presentation determine appropriate substitutions to comply with Canada Food Guide qualifications ensure preparation of adequate meal quantities ensure appropriate meal portions are served Assume responsibility for meal preparation as above in the absence of Cook I or Food Services Supervisor Keep kitchen clean following provincial Food Safety standards Assist with proper rotation of food stock Ensure proper storage of food supplies according to provincial health standards Assist with the Medication Assistance Program as required Respond to emergency calls as required Complete necessary documentation as required Support and adhere to all safe food handling practices Assist with serving and cleanup in the dining room as required Other duties as required Education/Training: Min Grade twelve or equivalent Provincial certification in food safety and hygiene Standard 1st Aid certification WHMIS training Background: Three Years cooking background desired Bulk cooking background preferred Specific Qualifications: Current satisfactory Criminal Record Check The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the incumbent(s) of this job.
