Overview: Daggerwing Adapt in Toronto is seeking an experienced editor and content manager for a full time, on-site position to support updating and adapting existing digital and print creative for pharma, across many brands and franchises, but primarily in oncology. This position focuses on adapting/editing pre-existing, pre-approved content. Tactics target healthcare professionals (sales aids, eDetail aids, conference/hospital panels, physician emails, web sites), as well as communications to patients (web siteupdates, emails, tear pads, educational brochures, print ads). Assignments include compiling, editing, and proofreading copy/content, references and annotations that support creative submissions for regulatory review; processing changes based on legal/editorial/regulatory feedback; and QC of release materials. Original medical writing is minimal. Oncology-focused pharmaceutical experience, as well as familiarity with U.S. and Global campaigns, would be extremely beneficial for this position.This position will report to Daggerwing Adapt’s SVP, General Manager. Daily direction will be from the Managing Medical Editor as well as other studio account/project management staff in terms of priorities, required tasks, daily/weekly deliverables, and production time-lines.Responsibilities: Reviewing/perusal of approved materials/campaigns to become familiar with tone, content, and campaign messaging in the likelihood of them becoming Daggerwing Adapt projects. Reviewing draft work orders generated by Account Teams to identify any copy and content questions that need to be directed to the agency that did the original creative (AOR) or the client. Editing/revising copy based on explicit work order direction; ensuring new/adapted copy is aligned with acceptable 3rd-party sources and approved client materials. Verifying referenced content, ensuring copy is referenced and annotated accurately and that edits/copy revisions do not undermine previously-approved content. Collaborating with the Creative Director and Studio Production Designers on overall design/copy approach to adapting, updating, or creating new print and digital materials. Includes making iterative copy changes based on feedback from the agency (AOR) and the client. Development of/proofing of detailed source annotations for projects prior to submission to client’s regulatory and legal review system. Proofreading all jobs at all key steps in the process. Maintain a log of changes/updates per job based on client’s regulatory, medical and legal review that can be circulated back to the AORs. Creation/editing/management of final copy manuscript per job based on final versions of release materials. Requirements and Experience: Degree/Diploma in a scientific/medical field and/or advertising copywriting. 3-five years min experience of editorial work for healthcare with an emphasis on materials targeting doctors and other healthcare professionals. Strong, proven editing and proofreading abilities – demonstrated expertise to leverage approved sources for content creation/adaptation while adhering to regulatory, legal, and medical guidelines. Experience in editing and content management in digital (web sites, e-detail, emails, banners, mobile) as well as print (brochures, sales materials, print ads, patient materials). Experience working with U.S. pharma companies and agencies, including US regulatory review procedures is an asset but not required. Experience in working with and providing direction to studio designers, creative and editorial team. Proven expertise to multitask in a fast-paced environment and meet tight timelines. Expertise to adapt to constantly changing environment and collaborate with teammates who are working in remote/offsite locations. Literacy with both standard and medical editorial procedures, as well as consistent attention to detail. Good written and spoken communication abilities. Strong skills/experience with standard business productivity tools such as Ms word, Microsoft excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with ZINC as well as Internal Digital Routing or Project Management systems is an asset.
