Commercial Account Executive, Surety & Construction
Position summary: The successful candidate will be responsible for new business sales and provide professional surety services to commercial construction clients. Expectations include a strong emphasis on new business development for mid to large construction accounts.He/she will bring ability in surety and construction to this role, as well as connections in the industry, and will be tasked with prospecting new clients, organically growing a book of business and promoting multi-line sales. Furthermore, the Commercial Account Executive, Construction and Surety will ensure high retention by maintaining and further building relationships with existing clients.This is an outstanding opportunity for a strong closer and an exceptional relationship builder, who is results-driven but also collaborative, to join an award-winning organization at a key juncture in its history. REQUIRED RESPONSIBILITIES Be a key contributor to the success of Cowan’s construction practice by growing and retaining a book of business in surety, in mid to large construction accounts Create and maintain a significant funnel of new business opportunities Provide professional surety services to construction clients, including: Evaluating client bond needs, analyzing corporate statements to ensure clients’ financials are aligned with requirements and preparing bond submissions, Reviewing specifications of projects and contracts in order to provide the appropriate bond, Negotiating bonds with underwriters Develop and maintain relationships with surety companies and underwriters Develop and maintain contacts in the construction industry and within its various Associations Educate prospective clients on the advantages of becoming bonded, review financial statements and assist with the application process Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders during the renewal process Maintain knowledge of market place, product and industry trends KEY EXPERIENCES A work experience of success growing a book of surety accounts in the construction industry – in mid to large accounts Ability in surety and construction, with a network of connections in the construction and construction sub-trades industries A strong understanding of financials and of accounting principals Proficiency in Ms office as well as TAM/ EPIC A university degree is preferred Knowledge of insurance an asset KEY BEHAVIOURS Results-driven A strong closer and relationship-builder with exceptional interpersonal, communication and presentation skills Client-focused, with a partnership mentality Collaborative and a team-player Highly ethical/high integrity Thrives in a fast-paced environment Organized, and a problem-solver Resilient and adaptable We invite interested candidates submit their resume in confidence to XXXX@cowangroup.ca.
