Montgomery *must Be Adopted With Molloy*, Domestic Shorthair For Adoption In

Location:
Toronto, ON
Description:

Montgomery (Monty for short) is very curious, he follows his foster parents all over the house. He has started to enjoy pets and gentle brushing, and can be very silly, lying on his back with his feet in the air while playing with his toys or sleeping in that position. He has started sitting on the couch with his foster parents and has started embracing more and more gentle pets on his cheeks and back. He is still quite shy and nervous of loud sounds or sudden movements. He requires a patient and gentle adopter who is willing to spend time sitting with him, giving him treats, and letting him sniff their hand, he love to sniff a good elbow or hand to say hello. His foster parents spend a lot of time talking to him in a gentle voice, this has really helped his confidence. Monty spends most of his day grooming his bonded buddy Molloy. He LOVES temptation treats and will eat them out of our hands.Monty and Molloy grew up together in the same colony; they spend all their time together, sleeping, grooming, and wrestling with each other. They are a bonded pair and need to be adopted together! They will require a patient adopter who has experience with street cats, who understands that it will take some time to open up. They need someone who has space in their home to give them a quiet place to adjust to a new environment, it can take a little while for street cats to open up and feel safe. These boys also require an adopter who has experience getting street cats into a cat carrier, as they do not enjoy being picked up.As a senior cat, Montgomery requires yearly bloodwork to monitor his health. His next test is due in March 2024. Like all ACR cats, Montgomery has been treated for fleas and parasites.A little about Molloy:Molloy is very playful and silly. He loves being brushed as well as pets and chin scratches. He spends most of his day trying to get Monty to groom him and lick his head. He adorably lays on his back with his feet in the air waiting for Monty to come over and groom him.To see more of these two, check out their instagram page@montyandmolloyTo check out a video of Monty & Molloy loving each other's company, follow this link: https://vimeo.com/908895139?share=copyAdoption process If you are thinking of adopting a cat or kitten, please contact us. Annex Cat Rescue has matched over 1000 cats and kittens with good adoptive homes since our group started! Annex Cat Rescue cats live in real homes with our foster volunteers -- not in cages! This way, the cats live in normal homes and receive good food and medical care -- and lots of personal attention. We get to know each cat, so we can help you find the best cat for you. It's kind of like a kitty match-making service! All of our cats are vaccinated, have been de-wormed, and are spayed or neutered once they reach six months of age. We are always available if you have questions or concerns as your new cat is adjusting to your home. Here is our adoption process: Please leave a voice mail or email. One of our Adoption Team volunteers will contact you to find out more about the kind of kitty you are looking for. We will suggest which of our cats might be the best match for you, and put you in touch with a few foster homes for you to contact. You can go and visit the cat in the foster home and see if you think it's a match. If you fall in love on the spot (so easy with kitties!) we ask you to go home and think about it overnight, since it's an important decision for you and for the kitty. Then, if it's a match, you can bring your cat carrier (and the adoption fee -- which is modest and does not cover all of our expenses) then take your kitty home! We ask all adopters to sign our adoption agreement, which just sets out some basics so we all understand our roles, with the kitty's best interests first and foremost! A day or two later, we'll call you to make sure all is well and provide any suggestions that might be helpful, if needed. The Annex Cat Rescue's motto is "Cat Adoption with a Difference." If the adoption does not work out (a rare occurrence, in part due to our excellent "match-making"!), whatever the reason, the cat will always be welcomed back to our organization. We want the best for our kitties! Please contact us today!Shelter locationThe Annex Cat Rescue is a grassroots community organization. We are 100% non-paid volunteer-run. Our organization attempts to make a real difference for the homeless, stray and abandoned cats in this city through direct intervention and education. Every day, many people turn to us for help when Toronto Animal Services cannot. ACR does *not* run an animal shelter. All of our cats/kittens live in volunteer foster homes across Toronto where they are allowed to blossom and grow in a "home" environment (rather than in cages), and where they receive individual attention and love. While this prevents possible behavioural problems associated with caging animals, this also allows us to get to know each animal intimately and thus we can make excellent matches with adopters. Potential adopters are required to make appointments to view the animals in their respective homes. Our organization is "no kill". This means that cats in our care remain in foster homes are not euthanized (except for dire humane reasons). City shelters do not have such a policy.
