Location:
Mississauga, ON
Description:

Juana is available for Foster to Adopt!! ***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form*** As a foster-to-adopt family, you will have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found. During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit. Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Juana / F / 5Y / 41lbs / Mixed Breed / Good with Dogs, with proper introductions / No Cats Please/ Okay with dog savvy children / Medium Energy / From Mexico / Fostered in Mississauga Meet Juana – a name that translates to “encourage appreciation of life’s most simple gifts”! Juana emulates what her name describes and is a cuddle bug that will be sure to put a smile on your face. Juana had a rough start; she came from Mexico where she was tied to a dumpster and forced to eat only the scraps that she could find. Juana got her chance at a new life in Canada and has enjoyed every day since her arrival. Juana is learning she can trust humans again and once she trusts you, you will be the centre of her world! Juana is a dog that also appreciates all of life’s simple gifts; sunbathing outside, sitting by the window watching squirrels, and spoonful of peanut butter, and being her human’s shadow, don’t be surprised if she’s suddenly curled up beside you on the couch. Juana is friendly, energetic, and eager to please and has even learned some basic tricks and would really enjoy training with her humans to learn even more! Juana sometimes takes a little bit of time to warm up to new people (especially if they’re wearing a spooky hat or scarf that covers their face) but mostly just wants to roll over for a belly rub. She has attended a few adoption events and we’re always told how lovely and sweet she is. Juana does wonderfully in the house. She has full access to the house when her foster parents are home and spends her time with her toys or lounging on the couch watching the world go by. She sleeps in her crate overnight and settles pretty quickly. Juana’s ideal home would be a quieter with no cats– she wants to soak up all the attention! Juana has met two children, age 4 and 8 and has done well with them. We feel Juana could live in a home with kids as long as they respect her space and allow her time to properly decompress. Juana could likely be in a home with resident dog as long as proper introductions take place. There would be a meet and greet with any resident dogs, prior to adoption. Juana would love a family that can allow her time to feel comfortable when a visitor comes over and understand that her true personality shines when she is most comfortable. Juana would love a backyard to run around in, but it’s not a necessity. Juana is happy with a couple short walks a day, enrichment, play, and a run around the yard but is also always on board for a long walk or hike! She walks well on a leash, only needing some redirection when squirrels go by. She will benefit from continued "engage-disengage" games. The best way to bond with Juana would be continued training through play! If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting Juana, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Juana’s adoption fee is $250.
