Job Description: General Manager - Pickleball FacilityPosition Overview:The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the pickleball facility, includingoperations, sta???? management, customer service, league and organized playmanagement/development and facility maintenance. The General Manager ensures that the facilityruns smoothly, e????iciently, and in accordance with company policies and standards. The GeneralManager provides strategic assistance to the owner, including long term partnerships, seeking andapplying for grants, generating or improving upon existing policies and procedures, and generalideas to increase overall profitability and executing those initiatives.Key Responsibilities:1. Operations Management:- Develop, implement and maintain operational policies and procedures.- Oversee daily operations, including court reservations, equipment rentals, and facilitymaintenance.- Become a super user of court reserve and escalate issues to court reserve as required andseek solutions. Understand other functionalities of court reserve to see if YYC Pickleball canbenefit from them- Continually keep up to date with court reserve updates and feature enhancements anddetermine which of the new enhancements are beneficial for YYC Pickleball andimplement/teach sta???? how to use.- Oversee the connect team application and set up for proper use, onboarding andcommunications.- Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all patrons.2. Sta???? Management:- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise sta????.- Schedule sta???? to ensure adequate coverage for all operations.- Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for sta????.- Find creative ways to hire sta???? (ie grants or practicums)3. Customer Service:- Maintain a high level of customer service and satisfaction.- Address customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback promptly and professionally.- Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain customers.4. Financial Management:- Develop and manage budgets, ensuring that financial goals are met.- Monitor revenue and expenses, and implement cost-control measures as needed.- Prepare regular financial reports for management.5. Strategic InitiativesAssist with long-term initiatives such as collaborations, strategic partnerships or ideas thatwith increasing profitability. Determine which partnerships are worthwhile pursuing- Your pickleball background and passion is extended into developing various organized playformats. This includes leagues, competitive events, tournaments and many others to provideplayers various options to play. Generate promotions to incentivize and increase utilization, iesummer months, weekdays etc.- Grow the youth pickleball programs and promote YYC Pickleball to the youth demographic (ieschool programs etc.)- Monitor various grants that are applicable to YYC Pickleball or find ways to optimize programsavailable to the business.- Evaluate and implement new applications or software as required to help improve businessoperations.6. Marketing and Promotion:- Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the facility and its programs.- Collaborate with social media marketing team to create promotional materials andcampaigns.- Participate in community events to promote the facility and engage with the community. Thismay include Pickleball Alberta, Calgary Pickleball Club or other National or InternationalPickleball associations and groups to create awareness and collaboration opportunities.- Generate ideas for other community events or opportunities for awareness and exposure ofthe brand.- Monitor competitors and understand what others are doing for programs, costs, etc and howdo we adapt, change or do di????erently as required.7. Facility Maintenance:- Ensure that the facility is well-maintained, clean, and in good repair.- Coordinate maintenance and repairs as needed.- Monitor and maintain equipment inventory.Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).- Previous experience in facility management, preferably in the sports or recreation industry.- Strong leadership and management skills.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.- Knowledge of pickleball rules and regulations (preferred).
