Myra / Female / 2 Years/ 35 lbs / Corgi Mix / Good with Dogs / Kids 10+ / Not Good with Cats / From Antigua/ Fostered in Scarborough Meet Myra! Myra's foster describes her as a friendly sweet girl who loves cuddles and scritches. Myra came to us from Antigua where she was kept on a chain and had three litters of puppies. A local girl who had sheltered her puppies contacted our rescue partner to help get Myra and her puppies into loving homes. Myra is very friendly and has a lovely temperament and is great with dogs and people. She has the cutest little legs and the most adorable little face. She greets you with a cute wiggly bum while spinning around and chomping her teeth. She loves her dog siblings, walks, her bed, and laying out on the deck with her people. Myra would make a great addition to any home. While humans have not always been kind to her, Myra seems to forget all about that and is very quick to warm up. She loves attention and will come to great both people she knows well, as well as new people. She has only interacted with children 10 and older, however she has a lovely and sweet temperament. With the right introductions, she could do well in a family with younger, respectful, and dog saavy children. She seems to be adjusting well to her new home, and would be well suited to most environments. While she hasn’t spent any time in the busier areas, her foster believes she could adjust easily to a more urban area if required. Myra absolutely adores her dog foster siblings and would love to have canine companions in her forever home. Her fosters believe that due to her prey drive, a home without a resident cat would be best. When meeting new dogs, she is cautious and if the other dog is too rowdy, she will warn them with a low growl. She gets two walks a day, in addition to plenty of backyard time. She loves going out for walks. Walking on a leash is new to her, so he fosters are working on leash manners. She has been known to pull a bit when she sees a squirrel. She is learning the basics of training and gets super excited when the bag of training treats comes out. She is very food motivated so training will be a breeze! Myra also loves some canine mental stimulation in the form of puzzles and lick mats. Myra is currently left alone for around 3-4 hours a few days a week. When alone, she is given free reign of the house and is usually found snoozing happily on her bed. She has adjusted quite well with potty training and has only had a few minor accidents . Prior to coming into care, Myra tested positive for Ehrlichia & Anaplamsa which are a tick-borne infections and is not contagious. A CBC was performed to see if there is an active infection. Myra's CBC came back indicating that there is no active infection however it is recommended that Ehrlichia positive dogs get an annual blood test to monitor and that pre-op blood work including a CBC test and platelet count be performed before any surgeries or dental extractions.
