Engineers and Geoscientists BC is currently searching for a Policy Analyst to join our team in Burnaby on a 1-year contract until July 2025!The Policy Analyst is responsible for conducting the review and evaluation of existing policies and procedures to identify which should be published for transparency in accordance with the International Credentials Recognition Act and other applicable legislation and strategic priorities. This role will participate in internal and external consultation with select groups to determine the appropriate placement of policies on the website and to evaluate the extent of policy information that can be shared in accordance with privacy legislation. The position will also recommend changes to existing policies to increase efficacy and ease of interpretation by applicants. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Assisting with policy projects and facilitating consultation with advisory committees, registrants, and other internal and external stakeholders. Assessing the impacts of existing or new legislation on our policies and processes. Conducting research and analysis of admissions policies to help determine the selection and manner in which they are displayed to the public. Conducting environmental scans of best practices employed by other similar professions and jurisdictions. Developing proposals, scenarios and recommendations on policy and privacy initiatives. Writing training, guidance, and assessment documents pertaining to policy and procedures for privacy and document management compliance. Other duties as assigned by management. WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE The successful applicant will possess the following: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Public Policy, Political Science, Business or a related field is required. 2-5 years of relevant previous experience in policy evaluation, development, and analysis. 2-5 years of experience in a policy-driven environment with a focus on administrative fairness. Mindset of continuous improvement regarding quality and performance of policies. Knowledge of policy development and evaluation frameworks and methodologies. Ability to apply critical thinking to the development of recommendations, and to respond to issues and information requests in a succinct and timely manner. Ability to collaborate with internal and external networks of key influencers. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential situations, documents and information. Knowledge of document management principles and procedures for effective policy storage and reference. Training in Administrative Law, Public Administration, Privacy legislation, and/or Human Rights is an asset. This role offers a competitive compensation and benefits program including a salary within our hiring range of $75,000 to $83,500.
