Adopt Jimmy a Black New Zealand / New Zealand / Mixed (short coat) rabbit in

Location:
Belleville, ON
Description:

Meet Jimmy!***REDUCED ADOPTION FEE!***Jimmy is a large New Zealand rabbit that first arrived at HSHPE in May 2022. His ideal forever home would be one that has experience with house rabbits. Jimmy has a big personality and can be bossy at times! He was having a hard time with shelter life and was placed in a loving foster home to give him a break and learn more about him. Here are some notes from his foster mom:· He's a very good boy of course!· I've never met a more enthusiastic teeth purrer in my life lol. So funny when he clatters away when food comes!· He is quite skittish but also v friendly - he prefers slower movements and I think would do better w older kids or grown ups· He loves to have different spots to hang out- his tunnel, floor cushion, and the best are all favourite spots · He loves to dig in blankets which is pretty cute to see· He loves blueberries but refuses to eat sweet potato. Lettuce is a fave and celery and bell pepper are both okay too :)Like all rabbits in HSHPE care, Jimmy is provided a litter box to work on litter training while waiting for his forever home. He will require a large living space (an exercise pen is ideal) and plenty of time outside of his enclosure to exercise and play. Rabbits will not thrive if left in a small cage; this is a cruel and sad existence that often creates behavioral and medical issues. Providing your new companion attention, exercise, enrichment items, hideouts and toys will ensure they live a happy, healthy, and mentally stimulating life.As always, please do your research on rabbit behavior, heath, nutrition, and general care before applying to adopt. Rabbits are considered exotic pets that require specialized care (including vet care!) and live 10+ years if properly cared for. They make amazing companions but are not low maintenance or starter pets. Please visit HSHPE during open hours to spend some time with Jimmy or call 613-968-XXXX for more information! Staff would be happy to discuss the adoption or foster care application process! All rabbit adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, RHDV1 and RHDV2 vaccine, and a gift card from Ren's Pets!
