Job Summary: We are currently seeking a developer to join our team based out of our Surrey, BC Terminal. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in designing, developing, integrating , and maintaining software applications and systems. This role will be key in charting the future strategic technology roadmap of Van Kam’s ERP and application environment. This will entail close collaboration with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and devise innovative, best-in-class, scalable solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a steadfast commitment to supporting our mission of delivering freight in a safe and timely manner. About Us: Van-Kam Freightways Ltd (Van Kam) is one of the largest regional carriers in Western Canada specializing in less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation. With 8 terminal locations across British Columbia, we fulfill shipments to communities within 1-3 days throughout BC and Alberta. Between our own resources and our partner network, our coverage extends beyond Western Canada into the U.S. and Eastern Canada. Responsibilities: Build a strong base of operational, business, and current systems knowledge. Collaborative with stakeholders on development of AS/400 and Profound UI new programs and enhancement modifications of existing programs. Support troubleshooting and solution development of existing AS/400 and Profound UI programs as required. Design and programming fully integrated and intuitive user interfaces, dashboards, and reports. Create clear and comprehensive documentation, instruction manuals, and training programs to facilitate seamless user interaction and increase user efficiencies. Uphold high personal information workmanship standards. Continuously monitor, analyze, and optimize workflows for automation opportunities to eliminate repetitive tasks for maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Required Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Five years of professional experience as a Programmer/Developer . Java Script, EDI, Mobile applications (Apple / Android), Web Application Development (html, CSS, React, VUE etc). Degree/Diploma in Computer Science from a reputable and accredited academic institution . Additional Developer and Database certifications . Training and Experience Experience in evaluating, planning, implementing, and supporting large-scale IT programs. Team player with desire to grow roles, grow management experience and grow responsibilities over time. Preferred Qualifications: AS/400 using RPG Programming language and Profound UI development. Preferred expertise in business requirements gathering, documentation, change management, and training experience preferred. Why Work for Van Kam?
