Summary: The Landscape Labourer is responsible for performing a variety of work tasks in order to complete grounds maintenance and landscape enhancement service contracts. The landscape labourer will be required to operate a variety of tools and equipment to carry out specified job tasks. Core Capabilities: Customer and quality focusEffective communication skills (both verbal and written)Team workExcellent problem solving abilitiesResponsibility and dependabilityEthics and integrity Job Duties: Aid in the loading/unloading of trucks and trailers in the AM and PMMove and install soil, mulch and plant material to assist with the construction of landscape gardens and related areasOperate power equipment including, but not limited to, lawn mowers, line trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, pruning saws, sod cutters and chain saws.Conduct daily inspections, maintenance and cleaning of vehicles, tools, and equipmentAssist foreman in other work-related duties including shop and yard maintenance and cleaning.Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all timesComply with all company policies and regulationsWork in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulationsCommunicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner Requirements: Minimum one year experience in the landscape/construction industryCapable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible mannerEffective communication skills must be able to carry out verbal instructions, read labels and signs, complete simple reports, report progress to foremanTime management skillsKnowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/construction practicesAbility to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a teamAbility to walk, stand, crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical tasksA valid G class drivers license is mandatory.D class driver's license would be an asset. Work Conditions: Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, and materialsAbility to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shiftAbility to work in a fast paced environmentRequires good manual dexterityExcellent stamina is requiredWork near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basisWork outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold.Flexible working hours including occasional weekend work Pay: $20.00 to $22.00/hr
