And much more… What the position entails? Prepare engineering calculations using empirical formulae from Classification Regulations as well as first principles. Prepare ships HVAC systems packages (diagrams, arrangements, and calculations) according to industry standards and recognized marine standard criteria. Prepare ships auxiliary machinery systems packages (diagrams, arrangements, and calculations) for submission to Classification Societies for review and approval. Prepare propulsion and power generation systems arrangements, engineering studies, and analysis including but not limited to support systems, energy optimization, shaft line design, emissions control, pollution control, alternative fuels, noise, vibration, and environmental impacts. Have an applied knowledge of marine engineering and ship systems to ensure the functionality of the equipment required for various vessel types (i.e. passenger, cargo, naval, icebreaking, science, etc.). Prepare equipment procurement and installation technical specifications. Prepare testing and commissioning specifications and procedures. Support construction, commissioning, testing and field reviews. Review and evaluation of vendor supplied information from a technical perspective. In addition to performing discrete technical tasks within larger projects, employee may coordinate and oversee the work of other engineers, support staff or subcontractors in the role of Technical Lead, Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager. Be cognizant of certain aspects of the management of a project, including, but not limited to, the following: establishing realistic working budgets, deliverable deadlines, budget tracking & analysis, priorities, and coordination of project schedules. Prepare engineering cost estimates within discipline as required to support department initiatives and business development. Perform design checks and reviews to meet quality control and assurance requirements. Willingness to mentor and coach staff to help develop marine engineering competencies at Vard Marine. Willingness to participate in R&D groups within company (i.e. technical, quality, sales, etc.) Excellent communication and technical writing skills Liaise with Clients and build trusting relationships both internal to the company and external. What will you need to be successful? Will hold a minimum qualification of a recognized Bachelor’s degree or equivalent engineering degree in a related field. Experienced in shipbuilding or maritime industry, will typically have five to ten years’ post-graduation experience in industry. Has a good working knowledge of primary computer software programs necessary to complete Position Objectives (i.e. MS Office products, AutoCAD, etc.) Have working knowledge of Classification Society Rules and Flag State Regulations. Have a working awareness of basic naval architecture concepts, vessel operations, safety, and maintenance of ships. Overall competency would be considered Applied, Working, or Developed in their discipline. Professional Engineer Designation is strongly preferred and ability to obtain the designation is required. Competitive Salary Range : CA $92,000 - 100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications, as outlined in the job description/posting. Want to Learn More?
