Our headquarters are in Calgary, Alberta. What You Would Do in This Role The Engineer-In-Training completes practical training in various phases of project-based engineering work. The Engineer-In-Training supports the design of different aspects of energy industry projects from inception to completion. Duties include: Assisting in the development of process design for a project or proposal consisting of a normal process unit Assisting in the preparation of design specifications, computations and drawings Assisting in the design of component parts and individual units Reviewing vendor or subcontractor quotations, drawings and specifications for technical adequacy and conformance with project requirements Using Vista Quality Management System (QMS) Performing other duties as requested Discipline specific Instrumentation & Controls Engineering Assisting in the following duties under the guidance of a senior engineer: Preparing P&ID inputs Preparing instrument index Preparing instrument data sheets Performing preliminary sizing calculations for inline instruments Preparing material requisitions for instruments Reviewing instrument location drawings and wiring drawings Preparing I/O list and assignment Preparing shutdown key and cause and effect diagram Preparing engineering work packages Requirements Zero to five years of progressive experience in facilities engineering and design in the energy industry Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in engineering or applied science Ability to work and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team including Process, Mechanical, Civil, Structural & Architectural, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls and Piping Engineers and Designers as well as Project Management and Procurement personnel Registered as an EIT with APEGA Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel Strong written and oral communication skills Strong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detail Self-motivated and efficient with time management Awareness of applicable codes and industry standards Ability to meet safety requirements to attend site visits Preferred Some experience in an EIT capacity, ideally in the energy industry Why People Like Working with Us Working with Vista is a chance to learn and grow while contributing to the type of challenging industrial projects that the world requires.
