Adopt SHADOW a Black - with Gray or Silver Schnauzer (Miniature) dog in Langley

Location:
Langley, BC
Description:

Hello world! My name is SHADOW (although they call me "Alushe" down here in Mexico) and here is some info about me:PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Schnauzer Mix Age: approx. 1.5 years Gender: Male Weight: 30 lbs (13.5 kg) Height (paws to top of head): approx. 64 cm Length (nose to bum): approx 79 cm Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY – I was found tied to a tree in a park in Polanco, a wealthy neighbourhood in Mexico City. I was abandoned alongside my bro Santo (a pittie mix who is now in a foster home). Can you believe that someone would abandon two sweet boys like us? Just tied us to a tree and walked away... I will never understand why that happened to me. Luckily, I was rescued by an amazing rescuer and am now happy and well cared for at the shelter here in Mexico. I am trying to forget my past and live in the moment now - and boy do I EVER deserve a loving home in the Pacific Northwest! TEMPERAMENT - I am a super happy-go-lucky boi. I am affectionate at first sight and get VERY excited to see people ( video ). I LOVE getting pets and attention from hoomans. I love to play with other doggies and I definitely have the energy to play allll day long! If you can't tell from my vids, I'm a pretty whacky dude with a lot of energy! I am a social boy who gets along with humans of all ages (kids too! video coming soon) and doggies of all sizes ( video ). Truthfully I am just the total package and you would be lucky to bring me into your amazing home (heheh, wink wink!)ENERGY LEVEL - Medium/High - I have very typical young schnauzer energy! I can play all day but if you teach me how to wind down, I'll have some good snooze sesh's. I would LOVE to go for walks and adventures with you in the Pacific Northwest- I am made for lots of fun-filled, active days! GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Yes, but no video of the interactions yet. I am a bouncy guy though, so I should probably not live with small children who could get easily knocked over by my shenanigans. Dogs – Yup! I live with lots of other dogs at the shelter, and we get along just great. I am quite jumpy and exhuberant, so older doggies might not appreciate my energy. Here are some vids of me playing at the shelter: video 1 , video 2 Cats – Unknown. I did lunge at a few birds on the sidewalk though, so I may have some prey drive. PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around new things in Canada like squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Not bad! My rescuer says I am pretty good on leash and I won't pull if I am being walked by someone who has confidence. Video 1 , Video 2 , Video 3 , Video 4 . I don't mind street noise or cars :) Just like any adoptee, I will need a patient adopter who is happy to work on my leash training and who can continue to teach me how to walk nice. A well-fitted harness and lots of positive reinforcement will help me learn quickly :) House trained – Work in Progress. I know I'm supposed to do my business outside in the courtyard at the shelter, however I still have a few accidents. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn propper habits in my new home :) Please Note: WCP Dog Rescue partners with Unleashed Dog Training (Hannah Swain) to offer adopters one training session at a rate of $25. Any subsequent sessions will be offered at a rate of $50. WCP also highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives. HEALTH: I am neutered and vaccinated. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I receive a monthly pill to prevent heartworm NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible.
