The Role We're looking for a motivated and energetic Junior Accounts Payables Specialist to support our day-to-day accounting functions on a part-time basis. Reporting to the CFO, this is the perfect opportunity for a finance professional to develop their AP, but also their general accounting skills. Ideally, you are detail-oriented and process-driven, with an analytical eye and ability to see the big picture. You have the drive and flexibility to thrive in our fast-paced environment. Location: This is an Ottawa-based hybrid role. Key Responsibilities Accounts payable: Maintain the accounts payable ledger by ensuring all employee expenses, vendor invoices and payments are promptly entered. Reconcile company credit card purchases monthly and ensure that adequate documentation is in place for all purchases including HST. Proactively follow up on any items necessary to ensure employee expense reimbursements are done on a timely basis. Initiate payments to vendors and employees and ensure cheques are distributed. Customer orders, invoicing, and collections: Verify that invoices generated by the sales operations department are accurate and in accordance with customer purchase orders and instructions. Ensure the CRM system has accurate and complete information on customer orders and billing instructions. Follow up with customers on outstanding payments and provide updates weekly to management. Ensure that customers have the necessary documentation and tax forms they need to make payments. General accounting: Assist with reconciliation of some general ledger accounts. Qualifications Degree or diploma in accounting, or a related field. Preferred 1 – 3 years of work experience in General Accounting and Accounts Payables processes - new grads also welcome to apply! Experience using Excel for financial analysis, and knowledge of accounting software. Team-oriented mindset, and strong interpersonal skills. Strong, proactive communicator with excellent English verbal and written communication skills. Individual contributor with the ability to work independently.
