Pepsi *must Be Adopted With Doc*, Domestic Shorthair For Adoption In Toronto

Location:
Toronto, ON
Description:

Pepsi is a quiet boy who loves treats (he's very food motivated). He took some time warming up to hands reaching out for pats, but now recognizes an outstretched hand usually means he'll get pats. He happily comes over and enjoys head and ear scratches, and full body pats.Pepsi has good litter box habits, though he does jump out of the litter box, so some litter does follow him. He loves to sit by a window, watching the world go by. He's also fond of lounging around bathing himself, whether that's on the floor, or in a comfy chair.Pepsi knows when breakfast and dinner are, and will lead you to his bowl. He used to jump up on the table to dive into the bowl as it was being filled. Now he rarely jumps up, and when he does, will get down when told. Initially, he wasn't eating or drinking very much. There would be some food left, mostly in the centre of the bowl. The water bowl always had almost an inch of water left at the end of the day. Once I switched to shallow food and water bowls, he was licking both bowls dry. When I've opened the door to the room, Pepsi has been apprehensive of what's out in the hallway. He stays back, and doesn't try to interact with my resident cats.Pepsi loves playing and cuddling with his brother, Doc. They chase each other and wrestle, they play with toys together, and they snuggle up and sleep together. They even take turns giving each other baths.I think they would do well with another young cat who could become their playmate, as my foster fail Misty has been mothering them and there has been mutual grooming and wrestling.Pepsi has mild gingivitis and should be on a dental diet and tooth cleaning routine. He is negative for FIV and FeLV. Like all ACR cats, Pepsi has been treated for fleas and parasites.Pepsi must be adopted with Doc.To check out a video of Pepsi and Doc loving each other, please follow this link:https://vimeo.com/924457434?share=copyAdoption process If you are thinking of adopting a cat or kitten, please contact us. Annex Cat Rescue has matched over 1000 cats and kittens with good adoptive homes since our group started! Annex Cat Rescue cats live in real homes with our foster volunteers -- not in cages! This way, the cats live in normal homes and receive good food and medical care -- and lots of personal attention. We get to know each cat, so we can help you find the best cat for you. It's kind of like a kitty match-making service! All of our cats are vaccinated, have been de-wormed, and are spayed or neutered once they reach six months of age. We are always available if you have questions or concerns as your new cat is adjusting to your home. Here is our adoption process: Please leave a voice mail or email. One of our Adoption Team volunteers will contact you to find out more about the kind of kitty you are looking for. We will suggest which of our cats might be the best match for you, and put you in touch with a few foster homes for you to contact. You can go and visit the cat in the foster home and see if you think it's a match. If you fall in love on the spot (so easy with kitties!) we ask you to go home and think about it overnight, since it's an important decision for you and for the kitty. Then, if it's a match, you can bring your cat carrier (and the adoption fee -- which is modest and does not cover all of our expenses) then take your kitty home! We ask all adopters to sign our adoption agreement, which just sets out some basics so we all understand our roles, with the kitty's best interests first and foremost! A day or two later, we'll call you to make sure all is well and provide any suggestions that might be helpful, if needed. The Annex Cat Rescue's motto is "Cat Adoption with a Difference." If the adoption does not work out (a rare occurrence, in part due to our excellent "match-making"!), whatever the reason, the cat will always be welcomed back to our organization. We want the best for our kitties! Please contact us today!Shelter locationThe Annex Cat Rescue is a grassroots community organization. We are 100% non-paid volunteer-run. Our organization attempts to make a real difference for the homeless, stray and abandoned cats in this city through direct intervention and education. Every day, many people turn to us for help when Toronto Animal Services cannot. ACR does *not* run an animal shelter. All of our cats/kittens live in volunteer foster homes across Toronto where they are allowed to blossom and grow in a "home" environment (rather than in cages), and where they receive individual attention and love. While this prevents possible behavioural problems associated with caging animals, this also allows us to get to know each animal intimately and thus we can make excellent matches with adopters. Potential adopters are required to make appointments to view the animals in their respective homes. Our organization is "no kill". This means that cats in our care remain in foster homes are not euthanized (except for dire humane reasons). City shelters do not have such a policy.
