Sunshine requires a home that understands her unique needs. She is quite timid around people and thinks whenever they go towards her they are going to grab her. She responds by darting away and hiding. Her adopters will have to give her plenty of time and space to let her know that they don't mean her any harm. With that said, it took about 1 week in her foster home to seek out physical affection. The best way to interact with her is through food and play, she is still a kitten after all! She seeks this attention around meal time mostly but isn't quite ready to be approached. She isn't comfortable being picked up yet and will panic to get out of being held. She has never shown any form of aggression, she just gets scared and wants to run away. Expect to do a fair bit strategizing in the beginning for cutting claws and putting her in a carrier. As she matures and is provided positive reinforcement this behaviour will very likely dissipate and she will grow into a more confident and affectionate cat. Her adopters will have to understand that there may be certain things she may never be able to overcome. But the time and effort put into her will certainly give her the best life possible and she has shown a lot of potential in becoming an excellence companion cat. We want to make sure that our rescued cats and kittens go to good, loving homes so before we adopt, an adoption counselor will conduct a short pre-adoption interview to make sure that you and the cat are a good match.
