Job Details Wage range: $43.17 - $55.39 Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day Primary location: CASA Fort Road/CASA Centre/CASA West Union: In-scope Classification: Mental Health Therapist FTE: 0.6 up to 0.7 FTE (21.75 - 25.38 hours/week) Status: Permanent ​ About the Role Core is the first stop for most families who come to CASA. The program serves children ages three to 17 and provides general mental health treatment for a wide range of concerns. From Core, the therapist is able to step families up or down into more appropriate levels of service if needed. The Mental Health Therapist will: Conduct comprehensive bio-psycho-social mental health assessments for assigned preschoolers, children and adolescents. Develop treatment plans and formulate diagnoses using the DSM-5-TR and other diagnostic tools as appropriate. Provide therapeutic interventions to support the patient in achieving therapeutic goals, utilizing a variety of developmentally-appropriate treatment approaches. Facilitate psycho-educational and therapeutic groups for children and caregivers. Carry out case management functions including convening case conferences and liaising with community services and other professionals involved with the child and family (in particular, the education, social services, justice and health ministries). Advocate on behalf of the child and family as appropriate. Be an active, contributing member of a multi-disciplinary clinical team whose purpose is assessment, treatment, case review and consultation. Follow agency policy and practice regarding admission, discharge and maintenance of health records. Qualifications Graduate degree in psychology, social work (with psycho-social intervention designation) or occupational therapy. Current registration in good standing with a professional college identified under the Health Professions Act. A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions. Knowledge and experience supporting the healing of children and youth who have experienced trauma. Knowledge and experience in the following therapeutic modalities: cognitive behavioural therapy, solution-focused therapy, crisis intervention, narrative therapy and emotionally focused therapy. Knowledge and experience supporting families connected with children services and/or family support services is an asset. Training and experience in play therapy and dialectic behavioural therapy considered an asset. Experience supporting the mental health of children and youth who identify as LGBTQ2S+. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team to build consensus. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Familiarity with electronic medical records or similar information systems. Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle. Mental Health First Aid or Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) certification. Conditions of Employment A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate. A satisfactory Child Intervention Check. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption on the basis of a protected legal ground. Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA), as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
