Jadoe (rhymes with "Shadow") isn't just a handsome face: he's confident, playful, and friendly as can be!Jadoe would happily hang out with people almost 24/7. He loves to chill together, play together, and get pets during the day and curling up to sleep at someone's feet at night. He also loves to talk, and he'll never hesitate to let you know when it's time for food or fun!When people aren't around, fellow animals are pretty good too: although he does try to steal his fellow felines' food and will occasionally insist on being the only cat on the bed, he can frequently be found lounging near his foster siblings while waiting for his humans to finish work.Jadoe is very agreeable, and his foster family thinks he'd likely be good with animal-loving kids, cat-friendly dogs... he even warms up to guests fairly quickly! Although he doesn't like to be picked up, he'll happily take kisses, scritches, and pets forward, backward and side to side. He just loves the attention!Don't think it's all about him, though: when Jadoe hears that a person or pet sounds hurt or upset, he often runs in the room to ask what's wrong. Everyone feels loved when Jadoe is around!Jadoe spent his first few years as a colony cat, but he's not much of a fighter. He is quite patient and tolerant even during things he dislikes, such as being brushed, being kept away from the other cats' food, or spending time home alone. Jadoe needs a home with a big, friendly family who'll love to play, sit, and sleep together with him. You'd never know it from his happy demeanour, but Jadoe has mild irritable bowel disease (IBD). It is well-controlled with his current diet, and his forever family must be able to commit to prescription veterinary food, daily probiotics, and regular exercise. His thick fur also requires regular brushing with the furminator. With the right food and care, cats with IBD can live very long and healthy lives-and a loving companion like Jadoe is totally worth the effort!Like all ACR cats, Jadoe has been treated for fleas and parasites. Annex Cat Rescue has matched over 1000 cats and kittens with good adoptive homes since our group started! Annex Cat Rescue cats live in real homes with our foster volunteers -- not in cages! This way, the cats live in normal homes and receive good food and medical care -- and lots of personal attention. We get to know each cat, so we can help you find the best cat for you. It's kind of like a kitty match-making service! All of our cats are vaccinated, have been de-wormed, and are spayed or neutered once they reach six months of age. We are always available if you have questions or concerns as your new cat is adjusting to your home. Here is our adoption process: Please leave a voice mail or email. One of our Adoption Team volunteers will contact you to find out more about the kind of kitty you are looking for. We will suggest which of our cats might be the best match for you, and put you in touch with a few foster homes for you to contact. You can go and visit the cat in the foster home and see if you think it's a match. If you fall in love on the spot (so easy with kitties!) we ask you to go home and think about it overnight, since it's an important decision for you and for the kitty. Then, if it's a match, you can bring your cat carrier (and the adoption fee -- which is modest and does not cover all of our expenses) then take your kitty home! We ask all adopters to sign our adoption agreement, which just sets out some basics so we all understand our roles, with the kitty's best interests first and foremost! A day or two later, we'll call you to make sure all is well and provide any suggestions that might be helpful, if needed. The Annex Cat Rescue's motto is "Cat Adoption with a Difference." Our organization attempts to make a real difference for the homeless, stray and abandoned cats in this city through direct intervention and education. Every day, many people turn to us for help when Toronto Animal Services cannot. ACR does *not* run an animal shelter. All of our cats/kittens live in volunteer foster homes across Toronto where they are allowed to blossom and grow in a "home" environment (rather than in cages), and where they receive individual attention and love. While this prevents possible behavioural problems associated with caging animals, this also allows us to get to know each animal intimately and thus we can make excellent matches with adopters. Potential adopters are required to make appointments to view the animals in their respective homes. Our organization is "no kill". This means that cats in our care remain in foster homes are not euthanized (except for dire humane reasons). City shelters do not have such a policy.
