Rambo, Domestic Shorthair For Adoption In Toronto, Ontario

Price:
$200
Location:
Toronto, ON
Description:

Microchipped, DOB July 4, 2017FIV Positive When I first came into foster care, I hid under the chair, and only came out to use the litter box and eat. It took a while, but I became more confident and decided that the world would be better with me in it. Now I love to be near people, whether I know them or not. I headbutt and rub against anyone’s legs, chatting and chirping, hoping for a snack and a good chin scratch. Although I’m very food motivated, I respect your space when you are eating. I’m not a lap cat yet, but I’m pretty comfortable snuggling up against people sitting on the sofa. Ideally, I’d like you to sit on the floor and flop and roll against you while gazing lovingly in your eyes. I’m generally chilled out but am getting more playful and like to chase the laser and wand toy from time to time. I’ll do best with people who can read my body language as I do sometimes get a bit excited when people lavish too much love on me, and my nails are sharp! I can prove to you that I am a good boy though, by very gently taking a treat out of your hand. My foster parents have been teaching me manners and boundaries- I’m even learning how to sit on command…as long as there’s a treat in it for me.I have FIV, but my vet tells me I am in great shape. There are just a couple of things that you’ll need to keep an eye on. I have a sensitive stomach but am doing really well on my current hypoallergenic food from the vet and would do best if I stayed on it. Left to my own devices, I over-groom and can make my skin quite sore. Sometimes I get an unbearable itch that I try to scratch for a few seconds, but then I calm down again. The vet thinks this may be something called hyperesthesia. I’ve started taking a medication that has reduced these episodes, but there may be more treatment options to explore. In the meantime, I always wear a soft collar to stop me nibbling myself too much. I’ve got used to wearing it and think it only enhances my cuteness! Rambo has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). FIV+ cats can live long happy lives with a good diet, low stress, indoor homes, loving families, and annual vet check-ins. They don't require medication and can live in a home with other non-FIV+ cats, as the virus is only passed to other cats by blood (i.e. deep bite marks) and can't be passed to dogs or humans. Please don't judge them based on a blood test!Adoption processAdoption fee is $200 per adult cat, and $250 for kittens (under 8 months old). This ensures that the cats that come into our care receive the attention they need, are spayed or neutered, and receive a rabies vaccination at the appropriate age. For City of Toronto residents, the adoption fee includes a mandatory City of Toronto cat license that is valid for one year. As you can imagine, these fees only begin to cover our costs; donations and ongoing fundraising efforts carry us the rest of the way! Note: -Senior cats (8 years or older) have an adoption fee of the adopter's choice, vs. our standard adult adoption fee of $200.-Our adoption fee for an adult bonded pair (8 months or older) is $150 per cat vs. $200 per cat. Thanks for giving two loving friends a home together!
