HOP HOP HOORAY! Meet Jackie and Logan, two young dwarf rabbits recently admitted into our care. Their life prior to coming to us was tragic and were grateful to their compassionate saviors of whom they were named after. Jackie was found in a small crate on the side of the road with no water, food or shelter from the elements, and Logan nearly met a cruel fate, but we'll spare you the details. The most important aspect of this story is that they're here at the HSHPE and they're safe, loved, and ready to melt your hearts! These lovely girls are Dutch/Dwarf mixes. They're just as sweet and petite as they appear! These sisters are super friendly, sociable, and curious. They would make the sweetest and SOFTEST additions to a home with or without children. Because of their calm disposition we feel they would be successful in a home with children 5 and older. Please remember, all interactions with children must be supervised to ensure everyone is enjoying their time together. Bonded rabbits groom each other, sleep, eat and play together. A constant companion prevents boredom and loneliness, and once bonded the pair should not be separated. Adopting a bonded pair is a great way to skip the often long and complicated bonding process and you save two lives instead of one!Like all rabbits in HSHPE care, Logan and Jackie are provided a litter box to work on litter training while waiting for their forever home. They will require a large living space (an exercise pen is ideal) and plenty of time outside of their enclosure to exercise and play. Rabbits will not thrive if left in a small cage, this is a cruel and sad existence that often creates behavioral and medical issues. Providing your new companion attention, exercise, enrichment items, hideouts and toys will ensure they live a happy, healthy, and mentally stimulating life.As always, please do your research on rabbit behavior, heath, nutrition, and general care before applying to adopt. Rabbits are considered exotic pets that require specialized care (including vet care!) and live 10+ years if properly cared for. They make amazing companions but are not low maintenance or starter pets.Logan and Jackie can't wait to meet you!
