Full-time position / Fixed term contract / Seasonal 4 to 6 months contract full-time, some starting as early as mid-March and finishing as late as mid-October. A daily presence on-site is required for the duration of the contract, you must live and sleep on-site, have your own sleeping unit and be self-sufficient. A personal campsite is provided for the duration of the season (non-serviced / dry camping, with fire ring and picnic table). Single paid positions in majority, limited double positions. Camp Hosts needed in non-serviced rustic forestry campsites. Come and live the Workamping lifestyle for a season in one of the beautiful rustic campgrounds we manage! Ideal gig for nature lovers, vanlifers or RV’ers, travelers or full-timers, and anyone wanting to spend a few months in nature, enjoying the camping vibe all summer long.Hiring for the following areas: Cowichan Lake, Port Renfrew and Nanaimo Important! Our campgrounds are remotely located on forest service roads and are considered “rustic dry’’: they do not have commodities such as electricity or potable/running water, only pit toilets. This is not a typical job opportunity, it’s part of a lifestyle: you will live, work, and spend a lot of your free time at the same location. Providing a safe working space is Silvifor's highest priority. We have a comprehensive Safety Program in place which will provide you with all the tools and support needed to ensure you and your guests have a safe camping experience. All our positions require the employees to submit a criminal record check for vulnerable populations (children and elders), as well as a driver abstract. Following your hiring, you will need to participate to some short online courses (free of charge). Duties & ResponsibilitiesCamp Hosts are responsible for running all aspects of the campground on-site operations. As a campsite host, you are responsible to maintain a safe and secure environment for all visitors. Providing the highest customer service to our campers while maintaining a professional appearance and respecting standards at all times is essential. Here are some examples of the main tasks and expectations: Greeting and checking in campers. Managing reservations and last-minute bookings (first come, first served sites). Revenue collections, writing receipts and cash reconciliations. Presenting the rules and ensuring compliance from guests. Cleaning, painting and maintaining all areas of the park. Occasionally operating vehicles (golf cart or work truck) and small power tools such as leaf blowers. Complying with safety guidelines and being proficient in emergency procedures. Communicating daily with supervisors and reporting all issues. Expectations & RequirementsA daily presence on-site is required. Camp Hosts live on-site, they are expected to be there the majority of their time during their contract and to sleep there every night. We usually need 1 Camp Host for an average of 40 sites, depending on the size and business of the campsite:RequiredIdeal candidates will be motivated and physically fit for the job (able to lift 50 pounds and walk around/stand for long periods of time). The following is also required to be a considered candidate: Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills. Ready for basic remote mobile work (laptop/tablet & printer) & proficient with various online protocols (virtual meetings, mobile document scanning, using various mobile apps). Experience in customer service, preferably in the hospitality industry. Physically fit for outdoor work in a recreational & busy environment in all weather. Capable of movements such as bending, stooping and kneeling. Able to work well unsupervised at a fast pace while maintaining quality standards. Critical thinking, problem solving, sense of initiative & attention to detail. Consistency, teamwork, discipline, good social skills and a strong work ethic. Positive, creative, flexible & organized mindset. Criminal record, driving record and Canadian residency or citizenship (we do not sponsor for work visas). Strong Assets First aid certification level 1 & other trainings related to the position (WHMIS, FOIPPA, Forest Road Driving Unit) Maintenance, Housekeeping or Landscaping experience Property Management or Tourism Industry experience Any experience with difficult/challenging clientele or environment Cash handling experience What You Need to Provide A self-contained vehicle ready for months of off grid living (such as: van, camper, up to a Class C recreational vehicle, with a reliable source of power such as generator and battery invertor charger system or portable battery; most sites are in the forest). Your personal way / vehicle for commuting as needed to/from the campsite (for your personal errands such as laundry, water fill-up, grocery & time off; most sites are between 40-60min from the closest town). A dry outdoor space with a small table is recommended to comfortably interact with guests on rainy days (awning, canopy, large umbrella). Gas, propane, and water containers. A cell phone, a tablet / laptop and a printer. Appropriate clothes and shoes for outdoor work in all weather conditions. What We Provide A fixed monthly salary with a bi-weekly pay per direct deposit (details provided regarding of location). A personal campsite for the duration of the season (non-serviced / dry camping, with fire ring and picnic table). Full training and support, including site orientation, 1-on-1 coaching, online trainings, safety meetings and weekly on-site visits. Equipment needed to operate as per the required standards: administrative supplies, internet service and portable radios, safety equipment, maintenance tools, cleaning and toilet supplies, vehicle such as golf cart or small truck equipped with a small water pump, hose and reservoir. Gas deliveries to power company vehicles, tools and internet usage for operations (team communication and reservations updates). Weekly garbage pick-up for your personal waste and from campground clean-ups (no garbage service offered for campers).
