Intech International Inc. is seeking candidates for an exciting opportunity on the upcoming Unit 1 Primary Side Clean program at Darlington Nuclear Generating Station (DSG1-044). We are looking for dynamic and hardworking individuals to join our team in the role of Field Technician . Field Technicians supporting this program will assist with the installation, operation, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, removal, and decontamination of the remote tooling, cables, and control systems. Workers will also be required to enter the reactor building through approved airlocks, often carrying equipment needed to perform the job. Entry into the primary side of the boiler may be required. Location : Training at BWXT Cambridge (581 Coronation Boulevard, Cambridge, Ontario N1R 3E9 Training at Candu Energy Inc. (2251 Speakman Drive, Mississauga, Ontario L5K 1B2 Execution at Darlington Nuclear Generating Station (1 Holt Road South, Bowmanville, Ontario L1C 3Z8) Duration : Mon Jan 22 nd – hire on date Mon Jan 22 nd to Fri Feb 2 nd – training at BWXT Cambridge Mon Feb 5 th to Fri Mar 1 st – training at Candu Energy Inc. Sat Mar 2 nd to Sun Apr 14 th – deploy to site/execution Hours of Work : Training – 5x8s Execution – 7x12s Responsibilities : Clean the inside of boiler tubes by utilizing a shot blast system (similar process to sandblasting). Install FME isolation bungs into the hot and cold inlet/outlet piping on the primary side of the boilers. Close the primary side boiler manways upon completion of the program. Requirements : Valid OPG Site Access clearance is required to work on site at an OPG plant facility. If you are cleared for Bruce Power only , we will assist with an inter-utility clearance transfer. If you are not Site Access cleared for any facilities, we will assist you with your application. This is a thorough five-year background check of your employment, academic and residential history. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are needed to travel to and from the work site and training locations. Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to adapt in a high pressure and high production environment while working independently and as a member of a team. Commitment to personal, employer and customer safety with a “Safety First” mindset and firm adherence to industry regulations and best practices to ensure a safe and healthy workplace. Additional Requirements : Candidates who are accepted and offered employment must be able to accommodate any schedule delays and extensions to the end date. Workers accepting this call require at least 1 rem of available dose in 2024. No regulatory limits will be exceeded but may be reached. Site supervision will endeavor to minimize and equalize dose among the workers. All workers supporting outage projects must: Be comfortable working from heights. Be comfortable working within confined spaces. Be comfortable working within a radiological environment. Be comfortable working in environments with varying temperatures. Be comfortable working while wearing the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) i.e., a rubberized aspirated suit. Be able to work for 12-hour shifts or longer. Able to work nights, if required. Successfully complete medical and site procedural requirements. Successfully complete a security clearance background check through CSIS/CPIC. Successfully complete employer and customer site and safety requirements. Successfully complete job competency training. Pass a performance evaluation after training is complete. Additional Information : A daily per diem is paid to workers who are unable to reasonably commute daily from their residence to the job site location. All technical and safety training is paid and provided. Please note this is a temporary , part-time contract for the duration of the project (January to April). Successful candidates must be available to work evenings, weekends and possibly night shifts throughout the duration of the project. We thank you for your interest.
